1. The student will begin the class by copying the Daily Science
Question that has been displayed into their science journals. The
students will answer the question to the best of their ability. After
approximately 5 minutes, the teacher will invite students to share their
answers. The teacher will share the correct answer.
Use a visual aid (chart) to show students how blood passes through
the right side of the heart, to the lungs, to the left side of the heart and
out to the body. The teacher will present information about veins and
arteries.
3. The teacher will show students where they can locate their
pulse (neck or wrist) as they stand beside their desks. The students
will run in place for one minute. The teacher will have the students
stop running and feel their pulses. The students will describe how
their pulses feel. The teacher and the students will brainstorm ideas
on keeping hearts healthy.
