Resources Preparation (what do you need to do/make before

Pre: board marker and smart board for slide show

While: drawing book and colors to explain how and Prepare the slide show on the smart board,
why tornados occur. experiment tools and distribute them on the tables.
For the experiment: dishes soap, water and a jar.

Post: board marker, timer and 4 different colored flags Key vocabulary/ Target Language
What is tornado: tornado- rotating column- funnel
How it happens: thunder storm- air- condensation.

Opening (warmer activity + teacher introduction)


Time: 10 min

o Divide class into 2 groups and choose one student from each group, teacher will tell the students a
word and he or she must draw it on the board without talking and the group try to figure out the word in
limited time.
o Introduce the topic and the learning intention.

Guided Experience

o Teacher pose what, how, when and where tornados occur and involve students' comments before
explaining. Use the draw book to explain.

What: show students the tornado picture and askes them how it is look like, what is around it? What
does it from? teacher explains: it is a rotating column of air, spin rapidly, begins from a thunderstorm
and it touches the cloud and the ground.

How: ask student: how it might happen, began and things helps it to happen. Teacher explains how it
is happening.

representor who will answer the questions were he or she must share and cooperate with his group
before that. When they found an answer, they must raise the flag.
