Overall aim and context of the lesson – (Brief description)

The lesson was about the four shapes “triangle, square, circle, rectangle”, I put three learning
outcomes that I want to reach them in the end of the lesson, the first one was to Identify similarities
and differences between shapes, the second one was to Name shapes that make up real-world
objects, and the last one was to Identify specific shapes “circle, square, triangle, rectangle”, I included
three activities in my lesson, I divided the students into three groups, the dividing based on how each
student engage and learn, each group sit in a specific area, the first group took the playdough to play
and make shapes from it, I know that children like to play with the playdough, the second group went
to the creativity area, they have to use their creativity skills to make a wonderful artwork from shapes,
and they have the freedom to make whatever they want there is no a specific thing, the last group
went do the classifying area, they have to classify the shapes in the baskets, the same shapes
together, they will change the groups when they will finish their activity.

Choose two aspects from the competency areas to evaluate and discuss (one paragraph each) according
to following:

Discuss one aspect that YOU feel you did very well. Try to analyze why you think it worked well about the
successful strategy/ resource/activity/management style etc.

I think the strategy of analyzing worked so well to assess all of the students in one time, because
when I assess all of them together, I can’t find who really know and who didn’t understand, and that
make assessing easier by using their work in the activity time and assess on their activities instead of
asking them without anything.

Discuss an aspect identified by YOU that requires attention. Discuss what the problem was, why it occurred
and what action you intend to take to be more successful in the next lesson.

the problem was in the pre-listening, when I assessed their prior knowledge, all of the students came
to me to tell me an experience and I didn’t manage that and I can’t let some students tell me about
their experiences and ignore the others, because they’re kids and they will feel like I love some of
them and hate the others, so I told them the others will tell me their experience in the end of the day
before going home, in the story time.

Consider your classroom management?

EPC 2403 Teaching Practicum 2a

It wasn’t that bad but in the pre-assessment they were so happy to tell their experiences and prior knowledge
so everyone was talking.

Did you achieve your objectives? Did the children learn? How do you know this?

Yes, because when I analyzed their worksheets, I found that everyone is knowing what they’re doing.

Personal Focus for next Lesson:

How to manage students when asking them.
