People feel inclination towards


learning a language that has promising future for them. English has attained a position of Lingua France
and it is widely spoken and understood across the globe.

In last century, China has made its way to progress fast. As China and its place in the world are changing,
so is the meaning of the Chinese language for natives and foreigners alike. The increasingly impact of
China fascinated more and more people towards learning a Chinese language. Besides language, china’s
rich culture also draw people towards China. Growing popularity of Chinese language and sound economic
growth instill a debate among intellectuals, masses, linguists and others about the future of Chinese
language in the future world. Many tried to look Chinese as next lingua franca of the world, where others
kept thinking and arguing that English language will retain its status as a lingua franca.

The heated debate from the both sides came up with evidences and supportive examples.

popular so long as Hollywood exists.

The success of movies such as Kung Fu Panda, an American production about a Chinese animal, has caused
a lot of anxiety in China, he says.

There have been many cartoons in China about pandas before, but none had reached commercial success,
says Mr Lee.

"The moment Kung Fu Panda hit the cinemas everybody watched it. They bought the merchandise and
they learned English."

English takes bronze, although it's far more widely spoken than Spanish or Chinese, according
to Ethnologue. English is established in 106 countries, compared to 37 for Chinese and 31 for
Spanish. English is the third most spoken language in the world.
