5. Design a Gantry girder or Crane girder as laterally supported beam to used in Industrial
building carrying a hand operated traveling crane for following data 12 (M)
Crane Capacity = 50 KN
Self weight of crane girder=40KN
Weight of traveling car = 10KN
Crane hook to gantry girder = 1 m
Wheel base = 3 m
Center to center distance gantry rails and columns = 1.4 m, 5.5 m
Self weight of rail section = 300 N/m
Yield stress of steel = 250 N/m2

8. A rein forced concrete chimney 50 m high above ground has an out side dia meter of 4
m. Thickness of shell is 20 cm of the top and it is increase to 25 cm and 30 cm at 18 m
and 30 m from the top. Vertical steel bars = 1 % of cross section area. Wind load above
18 m top = 93 k/N, Modular ratio = 13. Find stresses developed due to wind load and
