MISSION: As a socially responsible company, Danone Communities is launched in


order to better practice this principal mission: Alleviate Poverty, which means to
alleviate malnutrition, to make drinking water safe, and to break the cycle of poverty.
With the help of local experts and entrepreneurs around the globe, inclusive
businesses could bring market-based solutions to the communities.

ACTIVITIES: Danone Communities pursues to create social good by supporting


amounts of social-friendly or innovative projects all over the world. More precisely,
Danone Communities achieve its mission by supporting activities in 4 aspects: Grow
Market Based Inclusive Business Solutions; Accelerate Talents; Inspire Change and
also Spark Innovation. For example, Gramen Danone Foods, a yogurt factory in
Bangladesh focused primarily on bringing better health to malnourished children is
founded. Based on the local market, the factory collects milk from small farmers. And
the sale is conducted by women or “micro-entrepreneurs” in a door-to-door way.

OPERATION: Danone Communities is a SICAV, who is open to all investors,


involved with the Danone company, its employees, the external institutions and the
general public. Danone Communities invests approximately 8% of its assets in social
or environmentally friendly projects. These projects are selected and took in charged
by some expert groups of Danone. And these funded projects are intended to make
profits. Once they have achieved equilibrium, Danone Communities will support them
in the form of an incubator.
