Ions & Compounds
NH4+ ammonium
CO32- carbonate (limestone) HCO3- bicarbonate (hydrogen carbonate)
SO42- sulfate (gypsum board) SO32- sulfite
NO3- nitrate (salt peter) NO2- nitrite
PO43- phosphate (bones)
OH- hydroxide
MnO4- permanganate
C2H3O2- acetate
C2O42- oxalate
CN- cyanate SCN- thiocyanate
CrO42- chromate Cr2O72- dichromate
For the following polyatomic ion, Cl - chlor can be replace with I -iod or Br-brom.
Ions do not need prefixes when they cancel. If a polyatomic ion multiple is needed that ion will need
a parenthesis & a subscript.
