Tour report of Durgapur against MO No: dated from 28/09/10 to 30/09/10

28/09/10

Left Kolkata at 06:14 pm for Durgapur by bus. Reached to Durgapur at 10 pm.

29/09/10

Went to DRDO site which is 34 km from Durgapur City at 9:30am.

1) After discussion with the customer we were been aware of the fact that
the system is getting locked at our end but the communication is not through
as customer is only able to receive information but he is not been heard of to
the other end.

2) After checking the system I found that the SSPA IS FAULTY, which
comes on the transmission path. Henceforth customer is unable to transmit.
Transmission signal level measured at Antenna before feeding to SSPA. I
found that the power is -28dBm which indicates the signal coming from
system is OK. Hence SSPA controller which is showing “SEARCHING SSPA” IS
becos of SSPA is not funtctional.

3) Failure of SSPA could not be justified by me, but as per my discussion


with Mr. Laltu (BEL Sr. Eng) and the customer DRDO Scientist Mr. Biswas , the
new SSPA worked only for 3 to 4 days. And while replacing the new SSPA with
the previously faulty SSPA they found that New SSPA was disturbing specially
the exhaust fan and the other fan.

On the day of failure the incidences are like this:

4) the RACK from where power supply has been taken to SSPA tripped
and the person in station went near to the antenna , found some chattering or
ELECTRICAL sparking sound. And the the fans in SSPA STOPPED.

I feel transport damage could be one of the reason of

NEW SSPA FAILURE IF THE EQUIPMENT HAD BEEN FOUND AND TESTED
OK BEFORE TRANSPORTATION. Customer is asking for quicker response from
BEL as last time we have taken as long time say abut 14months or more.

5) Extended C band communication with Gaziabad was disrupted for few


days and after increasing Tx power, EB/NO measured at our end which was
3.82 improved to 5.59 to Panagarh end and EB/NO measured is 8 to Gaziabad
end .

Missile Brigade who is our end user and ultimate customer wanted about 20
phone lines to be given to there office as the part of the project. After
discussion with Mr. Guru, Mgr BEL, I talked with Missile Brigade Major Bijoy
and informed that he can extent the phone to his office which is more that 1
km. from our board.

Left for Kolkata at 08:15 am from Durgapur by bus. Reached to Kolkata at 1


pm.

Left Kolkata at 06:14 am for Durgapur by train. I Reached to Durgapur at 10


am.

23/09/10

1) I Went to DRDO site which is 34 km from Durgapur City at 12:30pm.

After discussion with the customer we were been aware of the fact that the
system is getting locked at our end but no communication. AS per our
plan, instructed from Mr. Guruprasad, Mgr T&BS testing and DRDO Delhi I
collected faulty SSPA in unpacked condition. No packing material was
available with the equipment and no co-operation from customer in this
regard.

Taxi have been booked to carry the equipment which was 20-25kg and
voluminous of 2cft.

2) 24/09/10

Went to market for ordering packing box. Making packing box of one
quantity and limited time restriction along with my unawareness caused me
to difficulty to search the carpenter and order for the box.

Carpenter charged Rs. 500/- for the box to be delivered on 25/09/10


afternoon.

25/09/10

3) Went to Durgapur Post-office for making insured parcel. Dept of Post


don’t take parcel more than 14kg by speed post and 20kg by parcel. Process
of making insured parcel was also difficult as it requires GALA AND OFFICE
STAMP.

4) OTHER couriers are not company authorised. The insurance charge was
0.5% for repairing/old items against certificate and 2% for new items against
declared value. and abut Rs. 1800/- for transportation to Bangalore. Moreover
I did not have price of SSPA to be declared which I was supposed to be
informed by Mr. Guruprasad by mail. As per DGM, RO_Kol I should declare the
actual price of the equipment.

5) On 25/09/10 when I informed Mr. Maity DGM RO_KOL of my difficulty


of booking insured parcel or courier from Durgapur, he immediately slammed
the phone without answering me.

I Returned to Kolkata along with the equipment in taxi considering the


urgency in his voice.
Tour report of BERHAMPORE against MO No:844 dated 15/09/10

Left Kolkata at 06:14 PM for Berhampore by train. I Reached to Berhampur at


10 pm.

17/09/10

1) I Went to BSF SHQ. Found that the line encryptor was removed from
Berhampore-Kolkata leased line.

2) I Tried to contact BSNL for loop. No loops were available.

3) I Talked with KhajuriaGhat BSNL exchange for loop to Berhampore.


Hard Loop could not be detected to Berhampore. Soft-loop was/could not be
given from KhajuriaGhat BSNL exchange.

4) I went to BSF SHQ. Found that the line encryptor was sent back
from BaisnabNagar.

5) Berhampore-Kolkata leased line was tested after taking loop from


Kolkata. Found Line is OK. BEL Encryptor unit was reinstalled.

Old and trained staffs of BSF SHQ were transferred from BSF SHQ.

6) I Trained the operator for minimum BEU operation support for further
requirement and maintenance operation.

7) I Tried to contact BSNL for loop for BaisnabNagarBtn. No connection


was showing while pinging. Checked line for BERHAMPORE-KOLKATA-MALDA
as the leased line was available through BERHAMPORE-KOLKATA-MALDA-
KhajuriaGhat BSNL exchange to BaisnabNagarBtn . KhajuriaGhat BSNL
exchange to BaisnabNagarBtn distance is 41/2km and line is conventional
and modem is BEL supplied.

8) I Talked with BSNL SDE KhajuriaGhat BSNL exchange for line quality
improvement. He told his limitations for not to improve the quality.

I Went to Baisnabnagar for customer site visit and updation of line status.

20/09/10

I Went to BSF SHQ Berhampore. Found DC communication not available.

Tour report of KRISHNAGAR SHQ against MO No: 837 dated 30/08/10

Left Kolkata at 06:14 am for KRISHNAGAR SHQ by train. I Reached to


KRISHNAGAR. I Went to Saratpally BSF SHQ at 11:30 am. I Went to
SeemaNagar BSF Btn. Connected BER meter for KRISHNAGAR-SeemaNagar
BSF leased line. Line Quality is unacceptable as SLIP IS 9 IN 60 MINUTES. BER
was also 10exp-5. Line was showing frequent call drop.BEU Equipment could
not be connected.

Left Krishnagar at 06:14 am for KRISHNAGAR SHQ –Digberia leased line


checking. Connected BER meter for KRISHNAGAR-Digberia BSF Bnt leased
line. Line Quality is acceptable as SLIP IS 1 IN 60 MINUTES. BER was also
10exp-8. Line was showing OK. No frequent call drop. BEU Equipment have
been connected.

I Left for Kolkata at 10:14 am from KRISHNAGAR SHQ by train.

I Reached Kolkata at 2:00pm. for KRISHNAGAR SHQ –KOLKATA leased line


checking. Connected BER meter for KRISHNAGAR-KOLKATA BSF HQ leased
line. Line Quality is acceptable as SLIP IS 1 IN 60 MINUTES. BER was also
10exp-8. Line was showing OK. No frequent call drop.

BEU Equipment have been connected and working OK.
