I. OBJECTIVES:
Content Standard:
demonstrates understanding of key concepts of parallelograms and triangle
similarity.
Performance Standard:
is able to investigate, analyze, and solve problems involving parallelograms and
triangle similarity through appropriate and accurate representation.
Learning Objectives:
During and at the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

a. Determine the definition of similarity;

b. Identify properties of similar things;

c. Apply what they have learned in real life.

II. LEARNING TASKS:

A. Subject Matter: Introduction to Similarity

III. DEVELOPMENTAL TASK

A. MOTIVATIONAL ACTIVITY

Show/present pictures that shows similarity.

B. DISCUSSION:

Ask students about their idea on similarity?

How can we say that the objects are similar?

A. Examples:

C. PRACTICE EXERCISES

1. Are these dominoes similar?

2. Calculate the size of side x.

D. GENERALIZATION:

How can we say that two objects are similar?

IV. EVALUATION:

1. Given AD is 15 cm , AB is 12 cm and DE is 10cm,find the length of BC.

2. Given that shape A is enlarged by a scale factor of 2, find the size of the Area of
shape B.

3. Wiffoff deodorant is usually sold in 200 ml cans. A new size can is made, with half of the
dimensions of the old one. Calculate the volume of the new can.

I. ASSIGNMENT:
Answer the activity on similarity (will be posted on the group page of the class)
