Doctor Adrian Seymour is a film
director. But in his films, the animals are
the actors and the scenery is some of
the most beautiful and remote parts of
the world. Adrian makes wildlife films
and documentaries about his
expeditions for television channels.
As a child, he wanted to live in the
jungle and he kept lots of plants in his
bedroom. He loved watching TV
programmes about the natural world
with famous explorers like the
underwater expert, Jacques Cousteau.
Before he became a film-maker, he
studied biology and zoology at
university and went on scientific
expeditions. Later, he made his first film
in 2006 and learned to use a film
camera.
Nowadays, he films documentaries in
jungles, mountains and rainforests all
over the world.

I: Doctor Adrian Seymour is a film director and a wildlife biologist. He travels to different parts of the world to
film animal in the wild. You can see his films on television and on the Internet. Today I’m talking to Adrian
about his films. So, Adrian, how do you plan a film?
A: At the beginning there are a lot of planning for the journey. You have heavy camera equipment so it is
expensive to travel. And you often need special visas to film in some countries.
I: How many people work on the film?
A: It depends on the film. But there is always a director and a camera person. On bigger films you need more
people.
I: And how long does it take to make a film?
A: Well, I am planning a film at the moment and we are going to film it in the summer. Then I am going to edit
it in the autumn. So, in total, it takes about a year.
I: So tell us about your next film project. Where are you going?
A: To Malaysia
I: Why are you going there?
A: I am going to Malaysia to make a film for television. It is about a man called Alfred Russel Wallace. He
was a famous explorer in the nineteenth century. After that, I am going to Indonesia for three weeks.
I: Why are you going there?
A: To have a holiday!

Good news! The company is sending me to England. We´re flying
to Rome on Sunday 15 July and we´re arriving the next day at 5 p-m.
First, I´m going to spend two weeks in London. Susan and the
children are going to visit some friends in Cambridge. Then we are all going
to spend a week in Oxford. In the second week of August, we´re going to
drive to Wales. We´re going to stay with aunt Jane. In September, we´re
