An online version of this form is available to download: www.ibconsulting.org.uk There are two grades of membership for consulting organisations, with the option for either grade of practice to apply additionally for Accredited Practice status (see page 2 below): Recognised Practice in which individual consultants are members of the Institute and the practice ensures they work to the IBC Code of Professional Conduct and Practice

Premier Practice in which a proportion of the practice’s consultants, agreed with IBC, have achieved the Institute’s award of Certified Management Consultant (CMC®). To achieve the CMC® an individual consultant must be an member of the Institute. Criteria for membership - any organisation offering consulting or advisory services to management concerning strategy, structure, management and operations, either externally or internally, may apply. Other organisations providing support, marketing or other services to consultant members will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

All practice members agree to have the majority of their consulting staff as individual members of the Institute within 12 months of joining as a Practice. This is to ensure that there is a body of members within each practice who adhere to the Institute’s Code of Professional Conduct and Practice and have committed to the same level of professionalism and client assurance as the practice itself. Please therefore ensure that all applications are EITHER accompanied by the required minimum number www.ibconsulting.org.uk of Individual Membership applications OR confirmation that the required number of consultants in the practice are already individual members. Applying to become an Accredited Practice of the Institute
Once admitted as either a Recognised or Premier Practice, a practice may opt to be further accredited by the Institute to deliver the Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) award, provided they fulfil the criteria. Accreditation means independent, external recognition of the standards of the internal training and development provision of Corporate Marketing audit of the practice. It enhances the stature of the practice and entitles it to the practice assessed via an extensive assess its own consultants – with a significant financial benefit (see below). The Institute of Business Consulting agrees to the following in respect of the Practice Member: • To take appropriate and reasonable steps to market the Institute’s Recognised or Premier Practice and ConsultancyFinder service brands. To ensure that all Practice Members adhere to a common standard of professionalism and conduct. To operate the ConsultancyFinder Service in and effective and efficient manner in response to potential clients who ask the Institute to suggest suitable business consulting organisations to them. All potential clients will be screened as far as is possible to ensure that they are of serious intent before they are referred to the Institute’s Practice Members. When clients are referred to Practice Members the Institute will supply the practice with all the information available to it, to enable the practice to make an effective response. The Institute will promote the ConsultancyFinder serice on its website and via other appropriate channels. Details supplied by the Practice Member will be held on the Institute’s database and used to inform selections made.

The Practice Member agrees to adhere to the following criteria: • • The membership requirements for a Recognised or Premier Practice Member. The practice will provide two client references from assignments carried out within the last three years. In the case of new companies, references from other professional registers and previous employment are acceptable. The practice will carry appropriate professional indemnity insurance and provide evidence of the same. The practice will ensure that all consultants within the company will abide by the Institute’s Code of Professional www.ibconsulting.org.uk Conduct and Practice and the company will be subject to its disciplinary procedures. The practice will pay the appropriate annual subscription within 30 days on receipt of an invoice from the Institute of Business Consulting

In order to be included in the Institute’s ConsultancyFinder service the Practice Member further agrees to: • Provide details of the practice’s skill sets, sector experience and service provision on the official form provided. These claims should be supported by brief assignment summaries that are relevant and recent. Please ensure these details are updated on a regular basis in order to ensure the accuracy of ConsultancyFinder for referral purposes. Provide a maximum 50 word description of the practice and its offering, which may be used on the website and for key word searches. Respond to client referrals/enquiries promptly - ideally within five working days - and to inform the Institute of that response. You should respond to the client even if you decide not to tender for the proposed assignment. Notify the Institute on completion of an assignment with any feedback information. Notify the Institute within five working days of any contract for beneficial work arising from the introduction by the Institute. Pay on request an introductory fee to the Institute, based on a % of the fees invoiced to the client for the first 12 months from the date of contract. This introductory fee operates on a sliding scale as follows: - For the first £50,000 of fees invoiced - 10% introductory fee will be payable (minimum charge of £250) - For the next £50,000 of fees (up to £100,000) - a 5% fee will be payable. - For any fees invoiced above £100,000 - an additional fee of 2.5% will be payable. • • Be subject to the disciplinary processes of the Institute should they fail to inform the Institute of any fees due. Access to and inspection of the practice’s records to verify any of the above.
