Training Descriptions:
This course is designed to provide an in-depth perspective of pump technology in
terms of selection, operation, inspection, troubleshooting and maintenance. Topics
covered include pump types and terminology, centrifugal and positive-displacement
pumps, packing, mechanical seals and sealing systems, bearings, couplings and
other vital components.
Training Objectives:
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Understand classification of the different types of pumps.
- Able to operate pumps as close as possible to the design efficiency.
- Describe how to monitor pump efficiency, availability and reliability.
- Learned selection, operation and maintenance strategies.
- Able to troubleshoot pump problems.
- Able to setup and implement a pump maintenance program

DAY ONE:
PRE-TEST
Introduction – Basic concepts and Theory.
Pump terminology and performance parameters.
Pumps Type, Operation and Technology:
Dynamic and Positive Displacement
Pumping methods (centrifugal, rotary and reciprocating pumps).
DAY TWO:
Theoretical and real performance of pumps.
Construction of centrifugal and axial pumps.
Couplings
Bearing and lubrication.
Bearing Failure analysis
Standards: ASME, ISO and API Pumps
DAY THREE:
Pump operation and optimization
Sealing types: stuffing box and mechanical seals.
Wet and Dry gas mechanical seals
Cavitation, Circulation and Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH).
Shaft Alignment Fundamentals and techniques
Training Requirement:
“Hand’s on practical sessions, equipment and software will be applied during
the course if required and as per the client’s request”.
