II. SUBJECT MATTER

Subject: ICT/ CSS- Grade 10

Module 4: Maintaining Computer Systems and Networks

Topic: Computer Systems’ Maintenance

III. LESSON PROPER

A. PRAYER, CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE

B. REVIEW:

Call students to write their answers on the board for the following questions.

Then, have the class agree with their answers using their thumbs (thumbs up = agree, thumbs down =
disagree, thumbs side ward = undecided).

1. ACTIVITY.

Students will be divided into four groups. Using the provided materials, every group will discuss a
specific computer maintenance procedure using the following means.
Each presentation must not exceed 5 minutes.

Group 1. Preventive Computer Maintenance (Newscast)

Group 2. Corrective Computer Systems Maintenance (Comical Skit)

Group 3. Planned Computer Systems Maintenance (Poem)

Group 4. Condition Based Computer Systems Maintenance (Role Play)

2. ANALYSIS

Among the four types of computer systems maintenance, which do you think is the best? Why?

What is the relationship between computer systems maintenance to the efficiency of a computer
laboratory and technician?

3. ABSTRACTION

Derive the best computer systems maintenance procedure that is suited to Kananga National High
School Computer Laboratory. Explain your answer.

4. APPLICATION

Students will roam and assess the computer laboratory and determine the spots/ facilities/ hardware
that need improvement. Also, they will write recommendations, including the appropriate computer
systems maintenance scheme that would resolve the listed flaws. The class will consolidate their
findings and they will be given 1 week to apply their recommendations and fix the spotted computer lab
issues.

E. EVALUATION

Directions. Answer the following on a 1 whole sheet of paper.

A. Discuss what is meant by Computer Systems Maintenance. Answer must not be less than 50 words.

B. Differentiate the following computer systems maintenance by placing the following WORD CLUES to
the appropriate maintenance scheme.
WORD CLUES
 Prior to system error
 Will only conduct maintenance if laptop boots longer
 Consistency is the key
 Decreasing performance or upcoming failures
 Before faults occur
 Scheduled Maintenance
 Technician’s regular visit
 Performed to identify, isolate and rectify a fault
 Phase where restoration of the computer’s operational condition is the goal
