TEIMOSIA DE TENTAR
Sónia Borges dá-nos a ver
desenhos que refletem histórias,
pensamentos e memórias,
que saltam das páginas do
caderno que a acompanha no
seu caminho. Este registo mais
imediato revela-nos um gesto em
contraponto com as ilustrações
trabalhadas em composições
mais detalhadas num outro
tempo, sempre no traçado da
linha desenhada pela caneta
Pilot 0.4.
Atravessada pela necessidade
de desenhar como forma de
resistência, e de resiliência no
papel de contadora de histórias
desenhadas, TEIMOSIA DE
TENTAR apresenta ainda o livro
de artista Gosto De Ti, e um
conjunto de objetos, ilustrações e
livros da artista.
“Há ainda muitas histórias para
ilustrar e projetos para realizar,
acreditando que o livro enquanto
objeto, ilustração e escrita, é
essencial para crianças e adultos
para potenciar a criatividade,
imaginação, conhecimento,
sentido crítico, horizontes, e
nunca deixar de sonhar”.
Iniciado em Mirandela em
1981, o caminho de Sónia
Borges passou pela Faculdade
de Belas Artes do Porto onde
se licenciou em Pintura,
cidade onde continua a
percorrer trilhos no seu papel
de ilustradora freelancer e de
artista-educadora no Museu
de Serralves, onde também
ilustra e concebe as folhas de
atividades para famílias sobre
as exposições. Conta com
vários livros publicados, como
O Riscas e A Menina Triste,
cujo texto e ilustração são seus,
e Vermelho de dar Dó, um
livro-CD do Brasil com texto e
música de Cristiano Gouveia.
Desenvolve outros projetos
de ilustração, como Where
is Mister M?, um boneco que
viaja pelo mundo, de mão em
mão, partilhando fotografias do
seu percurso e coleccionando
histórias, lugares e pessoas.

Sónia Borges presents
drawings that reflect stories,
thoughts and memories that
jump from the pages of the
notebook that accompanies
her on her way. This more
immediate record shows us a
gesture in counterpoint with
the illustrations worked on
more detailed compositions in
a diferent time, always in the
trace of the line drawn by the
pen Pilot 0.4.
Pervaded by the need to
draw as a form of resistance,
and resilience in the role of
drawn storyteller, TEIMOSIA
DE TENTAR also presents the
artist’s book Gosto De Ti, and
a set of objects, illustrations
and books by the artist.
“There are still many stories to
illustrate and projects to realize,
believing that the book as an
object, illustration and writing,
is essential for children and
adults to enhance creativity,
imagination, knowledge, critical
thinking, horizons, and never
stop dreaming.”
Starting in Mirandela in 1981,
Sonia Borges’ path passed
through the Faculty of Fine Arts
of Porto where she graduated
in Painting, a city where she
continues to walk the trails in
her role as freelance illustrator
and artist-educator at the
Serralves Museum, where she
also illustrates and designs the
activity sheets for families on
the museum’s exhibitions. She
has several books published,
such as O Riscas and A
Menina Triste, whose text
and illustration are hers, and
Vermelho de dar Dó, a CD-
book from Brazil with text and
music by Cristiano Gouveia.
She develops other illustration
projects, such as Where is
Mister M ?, a doll that travels
the world, hand in hand,
sharing photographs of his
journey and collecting stories,
places and people.
