CONCRETE MIXES
A basic mixture of mortar can be made using the volume proportions of 1 water : 2
cement : 3 sand. Most of the student activities can be conducted using this basic
mixture. Another "old rule of thumb" for mixing concrete is 1 cement : 2 sand : 3
gravel by volume. Mix the dry ingredients and slowly add water until the concrete is
workable. This mixture may need to be modified depending on the aggregate used to
provide a concrete of the right workability. The mix should not be too stiff or too
sloppy. It is difficult to form good test specimens if it is too stiff. If it is too sloppy,
water may separate (bleed) from the mixture.

CONCRETE MIX KEY ATTRIBUTES

A great concrete mix should consider:
1 Workability – The concrete mix workability is the property that
determines the mix capacity to be placed and consolidate
properly, allowing to finish a product without segregation.
2 Consistency- This property determines the mobility and slump of
the concrete mix. This characteristic is measured in terms of
slump; higher slump values the more manageable and greater
mobility will be obtained.
3 Strength- This is one of the most important characteristics of a
concrete mix, and the most known property of concrete, it is
measured using it compression resistance, after the concrete
has reached 28 days after being poured.
4 Water-Cement Ratio- The W/C ratio on a concrete mix, is defined
as the relationship and ratio between the weight of cement, the
weight of water being added to the mix, plus added pozzolan.
This characteristic has a direct and linear relationship with the
mix strength.
5 Durability – A good concrete mix will provide you with concrete
that could withstand severe weather conditions and changes
 without any decay sign. The more durable the concrete is, the
more resistant to weather variations such as freezing, wetting,
drying, and heating.
6 Density- Concrete mixes could also be specified for certain
applications such as counterweights, radiation protection,
insulation or endurance and resistance.
7 Heat Release- A concrete mix should also consider with heat being
released under a chemical reaction that will fade at a
reasonable rate without producing cracks or shrinkage.

SIZE OF STEEL AND BAR

Pag-asa Steel manufactures and sells the following standard sizes (in nominal
diameters): 10mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm, 28mm, 32mm, and 36mm.
Larger sizes such as 40mm and 50mm bars may be produced via special order.
For steel bars, the terms "size" and "nominal diameter" are used interchangeably.

patterns and range in color from white
to pink and reddish tones. Streaks of
green, yellow and even black may
appear due to mineral deposits in the
wood.

Hickory cabinets have a naturally
contrasting appearance due to the
heartwood and sapwood of the
Hickory wood. The color may range
from blonde or white to reddish-
brown and dark brown.

texture with a tight wood grain that is
strong and heavy. The predominant
sapwood color of Birch is white to
creamy yellow, while the heartwood
varies from medium to dark brown to

wood grain has colors that range from
deep chocolate to light reddish-gray
