LEN BASSI
Consultant
Business’ Advocacy in Sustainable and
Innovative Concepts (BASIC) Inc.

Dear Ms. Bassi

Any economic activity has to be inclusive and participative.

By leveraging on public-private collaboration, we aim to translate the Bangko Sentral ng

Pilipinas’ (BSP) National Strategy for Financial Inclusion (NSFI) to on-ground, targeted,
scalable and sustainable execution to accelerate digitalization and further expand greater
access to financial services by 20% in 2020.

And promoting inclusive digital finance is the bedrock of FINTQ’s advocacy. Massive
bottom-up ecosystem build via execution of pioneering inclusive digital finance
accelerators has been our strategic strategy in fulfilling our core mandate. This is within
the framework of BSP’s NSFI and the National Retail Payments System (NRPS).

Hence, the active participation of and collaboration with the community across various
segments in an income-generating program, must be strongly promoted and supported
especially those from the Bottom of the Pyramid.

Knowing the value of people empowerment, we are in full swing in organizing KasamaKa:
Community and Income Builder, a multi-sectoral, community-based, self-help, income-
generating, and inclusive ecosystem-building movement via a bottom-up approach. We
aim to generate a critical mass of at least registered 1 million enterprising Filipinos to
experience a full suite of digital financial services such as micro savings, insurance, micro
investment, payments and credit/lending.

This will be done in collaboration with various cause-oriented groups including, but not
limited to, the Liga ng Barangay, Grab, Federation of Jeepney Drivers Association of the
Philippines, League of Cities, League of Municipalities, League of Provinces, MyPhone,
Hapinoy, Grameen Foundation, National Market Vendors Cooperatives Service
Foundation, Association of Store and Carinderia Owners, Philippine Business for Social
Progress, Philippine Business for Social Progress, Philippine Institute for Development
Studies, Philippine Public School Teachers Association, Philippine Retailers Association,
Center for Community Transformation, Ka-Entrep Micro and Small Entrepreneurs
Organization of the Philippines, Philippine National Taxi Operators Association, OLX,
Philippine Association of Detectives and Protective Agency Operators, and Urban Poor
Association, among others.

Among the objectives of KasamaKa include the following:

 INTRODUCE Filipinos to a complete suite of digital financial services;

 STEER majority of Filipinos away from informal lenders and loan sharks;
 INCENTIVIZE enterprising individuals under the Program;

 HARNESS the culture of self-help and entrepreneurship among them;

 GROW a sufficient number of adopters so that the rate of adoption becomes self-
sustaining and provides further growth;

 PROMOTE awareness on the availability of the tool in providing greater access to

finance; and

 CREATE virality of the ecosystem.

Under the auspices of the BSP’s NSFI, we would like to invite you to the launching of
KasamaKa on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 2pm to 5pm at the BSP Assembly
Hall.
