Statement of the Job

Employee performs routine, and some non-routine, continuous and repetitive work
involved primarily with the operation of a telephone switchboard and the operation
and maintenance of a computerized database of telephone information. Internal
and external contacts are many and varied. Work requires sound judgment.

Duties of the Job

*1. Answers, transfers and directs incoming calls using a computerized database
for information access.
*2. Gives routine, non-interpretative information on request and keeps updated
on daily campus activities to respond to and provide callers with current
campus activity information.
*3. Performs inputting, updating, maintenance and accuracy checks on a
computerized database of University faculty, staff, and students.
*4. Receives emergency calls, forwards calls to appropriate departments,
ensures that callers reach appropriate people or forwards to public safety.
*5. Instructs faculty, staff, and students in the use of the telephone, meridian
mail and conference calling.
*6. Performs simple clerical tasks.
