Some Enchanted Evening
Not long now till our special concert “Some Enchanted
Evening”, which is an evening in memory of our former
president, David Parkes, recognising the contribution he
made to musical theatre in the area. The concert is being
performed by both the adult and youth sections and has an
eclectic selection of songs from wide range of shows with
memories of David throughout his stage career.

The concert is being held at The Grange Theatre on

Saturday 13th April at 7.30pm. It would be lovely to see
the Grange full to capacity making the evening something
to remember.

Tickets are available on-line at www.ticketsource.co.uk/thegrangetheatre or by phoning 01606 539040.

the evening is one to remember. To book tickets please email midcheshiresocialsec@gmail.com

of payment (BACS or Cash).

It will be a really fun night and a great chance to dress up in your ball gown or suit and catch up with
your friends! See you all there!

Evita 25th to 28th September at the Memorial Court, Northwich

The first rounds of auditions have recently taken place with further auditions for roles due to take place
in the near future. The first main rehearsal will be at the school on 17th April and where all members
sixteen years and above are welcome to come along.
We are the first local Society to have secured the performing rights for this iconic show, and it promises
to be a great show under the direction of Gary Jones, Musical Direction of Marilyn Blank and
Choreography Lorraine Callan.
NODA nominations
MCMTC received lots of nominations in the District 8 NODA awards for both adult and youth
productions during 2018 and we are pleased to say that two of the nominations got through to the final
round with the awards ceremony in May. Best Staging for Honk and Best Basic programme for Guys
and Dolls. We will wait to see what happens in May.
Following the AGM on 12th March, the new committee for 2019 is as follows:

Chairlady—Sarah Sherwood—chair@midcheshiremusicals.org.uk
Vice-chairman—Stuart Dutton—vc@midcheshiremusicals.org.uk
Secretary—Vicki-Anne Boardman—secretary@midcheshiremusicals.org.uk
Treasurer—Sarah Sherwood—finance@midcheshiremusicals.org.uk
Show Co-ordinator—Barbara Turner—production@midcheshiremusicals.org.uk
Membership Secretary—Liz Cooley—join@midcheshiremusicals.org.uk
Youth Leader—Jenna Finnigan—youth@midcheshiremusicals.org.uk
Social Secretary—Caitlin Sherwood—social@midcheshiremusicals.org.uk
Publicity—Annabel Fox—marketing@midcheshiremusicals.org.uk

Casting Chairlady—Jane Carolan—auditions@midcheshiremusicals.org.uk

President—Mrs Elva Parkes

Vice Presidents—Mike Finnigan, Sue Chatt and Jeff Burgess
Trustees—Mark Burdon and Ian Lloyd

For me, taking on the role of Chairlady for 2019 is an absolute privilege and follows in my brother
Mark Burdon’s footsteps, who was Chairman for many years until he moved to pastures new. I
am also pleased that the family tradition is being followed by my daughter, Caitlin who is now
social secretary. It also means a lot, as my father was jointly responsible for the creation of the
Society/Company back in 1947 and served as secretary from its inception until his death in 1976.

After many, many years, Sue Chatt has decided to stand down after decades of acting as
secretary. I would personally like to thank her for all her hard work and dedication over the years.
We are very pleased to welcome Vicki-Anne Boardman on to the committee in the role as
secretary.

After nearly ten years I am no longer leader of the Youth Section, and this is now in the safe
hands of Jenna Finnigan and their next show will be announced in the next few weeks.

I would also like to thank Jacqui Burgess and Julie Gaskell for their hard work during the past
year.

Stuart Dutton is taking on the role of Vice-Chairman and part of his duties will be select future
shows. He will be canvassing members shortly for any ideas you may have for forthcoming
productions.
As a committee we will endeavour to try to promote MCMTC as much as we can and also try to
involve as many members in as many events/shows as possible.
Fundraising
The cost of putting on a production these days has risen, and audiences expect to see high
quality shows—equally we expect to produce real showstoppers. Sadly, ticket sales alone do not
cover the cost of staging such shows and we have to look at ways to fund the shows in addition
to ticket sales. If anyone has any ideas on fund raising, do let us know.

Equally publicity is essential and our publicity team will be working hard to promote Evita. If
anyone has any ideas on different ways to publicise the show, contact either Annabel, Stuart or
Caitlin.
And finally—Spamalot
After weeks of fun rehearsals and hard work trying to win the weekly “Spam” award, I think it is
safe to say Spamalot was a resounding success. Thanks to everyone involved and especially Jo
Milborne for her direction and choreography and Ian Sherwood for his musical direction.
