5 Tips to Survive the accountancy program

Speaker :

What does it take to become a certified accountant? Many of you may say that one must first survive the
Accountancy Program.

I want tol share a story to you..

Five months ago, as I was walking in the sidewalk, I was about to go home that time, a friend approach
me, a not so good friend of mine. She asked me something, "what course did you choose to engage with,
honey?"First of all, I am not her honey. HAHAHAHA But then I simply told her that I took Bachelor of
Science in Accountancy as my course. She just smiled at me in a very unpleasant way. I find it disgusting
but at the same time I find it motivating. Yes, I found a motivation from that smile of hers. It seems so
awful but then at least I took it in a nice way.

Now, I am to share the 5 Tips to survive the accountancy program by the Fresh CPAs ffrom the university
of northern Philippines

1. Be patient

Impatience is the root of all the problems. Sometimes you have to go through the worst to get the best
and surely, everything comes to you at the right time. Just be patient. Remember what Mandy Hale said,
"You will get there when you are meant to get there. So relax, breathe and be patient."

2. Have a schedule

According to one of them, a day cannot be passed by without so much stress. We might think of hard
maths and very long problems. We are being stressed of balancing our trial balance and preparing
different financial statements. We cannot also escape the activities given to us by another instructors. A
newly passed CPA said that we should have schedule or we should set time for a certain task. Even if we
know it will not be done through the given time, atleast, you are aware of what you are doing. "The key
is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.", take it from Stephen Covey.

3. Take down notes

One of them discussed how useful your personal notes are. This will be helpful throughout your journey.
It is being advised that you should write your own notes for you will fully understand everything that you
wrote down as time passes by. Your past does not determine your future. You do.

4. Have enough sleep

They added that you should get enough sleep. It is not healthy that you will engage yourself into
something that can harm to your health. They think that because of our hectic schedule, we become
really tired. Maybe, we really have trouble in fighting up mentally for today but we should take a break
and get plenty of sleep for tomorrow.

5. UNWIND - Unwinding is somehow needed in everything. You must have that time for "Me time" or
time for yourself. Time to recover yourself from a very tough day or week. Find time to relax, and stop for
a while about those accounting stuffs. Pause for a while and enjoy life also. In a perfect world where
everything would be either black or white, right or wrong and everyone would know the difference but
this isn't a perfect world. The problem is people who think it is. We only live once so let's enjoy life and
