1. Play Miming hopscotch game with flashcards from previous lesson(s) to review vocabulary
I. PRE-LESSON
(see TB, pg 57, Optional activity).
1. Activity 1:
 Jumbled letters: Distribute worksheet.
 In groups, pupils rearrange the letters to form the correct words and write them.
 Check with the class.
 Ask pupils if they play any of these sports, including table tennis, and/or if they think
it is an easy or difficult sport.
2. Activity 2:
 Draw pupils’ attention to the pictures and guess what the story is going to be about.
II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT (SB pg 56)
 Play CD track 49. Ask pupils to point to each speech bubble and follow along.
 Talk about what happens in each frame.
 Play the CD again and invite pupils to shadow read.
 Ask questions to check comprehension. (Teacher’s Book pg 57 after reading activity)
 Invite pupils to act out the story with props (if available).
3. Activity 3:
 Guide pupils to complete their learning diaries.

Flashcards for pre lesson hopscotch game: (TB pg 57
optional activity)

Steps:

a.Use chalk or masking tape to make a hopscotch


pattern on the floor.
b.Stick photocopies of the flashcards on each square.
c. Tell pupils that they’ll take turns playing, one at a time.
d.The pupil whose turn it is throws the bean bag onto a
square. The he/she hops (on single squares) and
jumps (double squares) to the end of the court.
e. After that, he/she turns around, jumping and hopping
through the squares in reverse order.
f. When he/she reaches the square with the beanbag,
he/she stops to pick it up, says a sentence with the
word and mimes the action, e.g. I’m watching TV. Then
the pupil continues hopping to the start and gives the
beanbag to another pupil.
g. Demonstrate how the game is played.
h.Encourage the rest of the class to count the squares
put loud together with you as you hop on each one.
