Resumen
Abstract
In the last decade of the nineties, Nichols (2001) says that performative
mode is created in the documentary film. Although the performance or
action (in this text considered both as synonyms) made by the director
has existed since the beginning of documentary cinema, It is from the
1990s when the performance becomes in many cases the basic element
to the creation. It is the case of Mitra Farahani´s documentary Fifi howls
from happiness (2013), which presents the biography of the Iranian
painter Bahman Mohassess. This article summarizes the characteristics of
performative documentary and they are contextualized. Then, the
Farahani documentary is analyzed as performance, in which the director
not only develops actions that affect the plot, but she herself creates the
plot next to the protagonist, in a thoughtful and subjective manner,
where the creation process is as important as the work itself. In addition,
the influence of various arts is exemplified in the film, like poetry, music
and photography. Finally, the most striking performative element is
analyzed: the death of the protagonist.

4. CONCLUSIONES Y RECOMENDACIONES
Para finalizar, tomando como referencia esta película, se puede decir que
las nuevas formas de creación documental están íntimamente
relacionadas con otras manifestaciones artísticas, especialmente con la
poesía. Por tanto, el producto audiovisual se crea de una forma reflexiva
y subjetiva, en donde eventualmente el proceso es más importante que
el resultado final.
