Section 3 - Operating the Clipboard IS Unit

3. Operating the Clipboard IS Unit

3.1 Operation
The Clipboard IS unit allows you to collect plant asset
data using a scheduled route that you define in
System 1 software and downloaded to the PDA. You
can carry the PDA throughout the plant to collect
data for the assets in the route, and then upload the
collected data to the System 1 software. The System
1 Notes software cannot collect data directly from
transducers. You must manually enter data into the
Clipboard IS unit.

While on the route you can:

• Use Observation Codes to add observations

about the condition of a machine or plant.

• Collect temperature and process

information.

• Compare the current data values with

previously collected data for the same point.

• See whether or not current data values are

in alarm, and take appropriate corrective
actions for those that are.

After you upload the collected data from the

Snapshot Clipboard unit to the System 1™ Data
Acquisition Server, the data can be plotted, displayed,
analyzed, trended, made available to other data
collection and display applications via DDE or OLE,
and processed in any manner compatible with the
System 1 software.
