5 facts about my homeland

First of all - I am from Moldova. It's my homeland. My country isn't so famous and one of my
main goals in this life - to make something really important and good for it. Hope, one day I will
accomplish this goal.

As I said, my country isn't so famous but still I can propose some interesting facts about it.
Maybe you can tell us some additional information heard about Moldova.

Let me begin.

1. It’s the least visited country in Europe.

I will begin with a really unpleasant information. On a global scale only Bangladesh and Guinea
are less touristy destinations (taking into account number of visitors per resident), according to
Priceonomics. That's strange, because we do have different attractive natural and historical
places to admire. Come to Moldova, guys and you will not regret!

2. Our wineries rock!

This is one most-visit point you need to pay attention on! Really, I swear! Moldova is actually
really famous for its delicious and specific wines. Wineries always propose different interesting
tours with visits of factories, vineyards and of course, degustastions!

For example, "Cricova" is a pearl of the Moldovan wine that represents an exceptional
underground city well-known all over the world by its huge labyrinths, and especially by its
excellent wines. "Cricova" is the first winery in Moldova which makes sparkling wine as it was
prepared by the monk - wine maker Pierre Perignon.

3. Orheiul Vechi

Another miracle! Moldova’s most important (and, arguably, most beautiful) historical place,
called "Orheiul Vechi" is a crumbling open-air monastic complex that dates back more than
2,000 years. The rambling ruins feature ancient fortifications, baths and monasteries, which
you’ll have largely to yourself.

4. We can survive without president

O.K. nothing to be proud here, but we actually existed without an elected leader for 917 days.

5. Most Moldovans are bilingual

Because most of us are good with Romanian and Russian. And also we study different foreign
languages in school and university, especially English and French. Therefore, I fluently speak in
4 languages. And I have in plan to study 2 or 3 more. Cause... why not?

These are first 5 facts I would like to mention through introducing my amazing country. It may
be little, poor, not so popular, not so rich - but it is the place, where I was born. Where were born
my parents. Where I have a lot of friends - wonderful, interesting people. Where I try to live
every day with a pleasure (O.K. I am travelling a lot now, but I am always happy to return).
If you have some more questions about Moldova - I will be happy and excited to answer. Don't
hesitate to visit my blog!
