Trainee Personal Goals

In this lesson plan I am working on classroom management.

Lesson Focus:

The Students will collaborate on how to add and subtract fractions with the
same denominator.
Lesson Outcomes:

The Students will be able to Add and Subtract fractions with the same
denominator.
Links to Prior Learning:

Review improper fractions and mixed numbers together with addition and
subtraction rules

& Time

Teacher will recap what they toke last lesson.

5-10min

Fraction
picture Than teacher will interduce the lesson, today will learn how to
“pizza”
Add and Subtract fractions with the same denominator.

The teacher will tell them story about fractions and from the
story students have to identify a fraction.

“Ahmed order 8 pieces of pizza and he eat 4, after lunch he

Want to the
kitchen and he found 8 pieces of chocolate cake
He eats 7 pieces”. The teacher will ask them who will write the
Fraction.
Than the teacher will ask them to add these two fractions.
Students will find the answer. After that teacher will write the
subtraction answer without putting subtraction sign and ask
students in piers to discuss how we get this answer, what we
did. When the students answer teacher will come up with
another example.
After that students will begin their actives.

Resources
Main activities
& Time
Center 1: Pair work
In this center will be 2 different color cards, each card has
5-6min different questions. There will be 4 different games. On one
totating card will have two fractions and students must find the answer
Questions for example 6 \ 20 + 8 \ 20 = 14 \ 20. On the 2nd card, is a
card picture of a fraction, students must write the fractions of the
picture then find the sum of two fractions. Third types of
counters and question have two fractions and they should identify the
dice. operation. Fourth type will have the sum of two fractions,
students identify the missing denominator or numerator.
UNO card
There will be a competition among the groups
large cube
Center 2: Pair Work
Students will have 2 games, counters and dice. There will be
10 different fractions and answers in different order. Students
roll the dice, find the sum of the fractions and search for the
answer at the bottom. The pair that finish first and has the
most answers will win the activity.

Center 3: Pair Work

In this center will be an UNO card. Students must choose
cards to form a fraction with the same denominator. They will
have to use both addition and subtraction. Students must
write down the equation and solve it. The pair with the most
equations wins the game.

Center 4:Pair work

In this center a large cube with 2 operation and white and
yellow dice and A4 Paper. First students will roll the white dice
to get denominator, then roll the yellow dice 2 times to get
numerator, then write the fraction in the paper. After that to
choose the operation for this fraction they have to roll the big
cube to get the operation. Students must write down the
equation and solve it. The pair with the most equations wins
the game.

Differentiation activities (Stretch)

All activities are differentiated.

Teacher will recap the outcome with the students and check
for understanding. Each student must complete an exit ticket
to show their understanding
