Delhi Public School
Schools are meant not only for transacting curriculum but
creating opportunities and environment for unleashing the
creative potential and reinforce a culture of innovation
right from age group of 6yrs to 17years. Schools are laden
with a greater responsibility of nourishing a healthy body
and mind irrespective of the aberrations in society,
exposures to multimedia and electronic media.
Centralised curriculum frame work and guide lines clearly
mention the cognitive growth factors and being on concurrent list keep shifting
paradigms to meet the growing needs of globally connected child.
Delhi Public School plans the curriculum interspersing co-curricular activities
and designs every area and age group based on strengths of the students.
If class pre-primary accentuates on literacy and numeracy, safety, love and care
class 1 and 2 focus more on communication, creative activities like kid spectrum.
Classes 3-5 begin with student led conferences and miniature research models,
while 6-8 are introduced into health wellness clubs, creative innovative
energising collaborative ventures. Secondary wing heightens myth busting,
muscle building, unleashes the teen energies through academic emphasis.
Guidance into the electives is slowly brought in and board examination fear is
eliminated right from the beginning with capacity building. Senior secondary
students are exclusively given career guidance and counselling and get all the
finishing school concepts.
Working and nurturing students with diverse background is valuable and
challenging for all of us. To maximise the latent talents, support empathetic,
open and comfortable environment school crafts each experience and calendars
each activity diligently. Tony Wagner an education expert provides a powerful
rationale and explores what teachers, students must do to develop capacities of
young Generation '' Z” . Play, passion, purpose all these forces are kept in mind
while preparing the almanac.
Device, the importance of almanac and writing and referring to it daily would
improve journal writing and will become a constant feed back to parent too.
Dr. T. Sudha

Delhi Public School

Delhi Public School, Nacharam and Mahendra Hills has a
short but extremely rich 15 year history of providing quality
education to its students. The school is proud of its history
and its accomplishments. Since its inception, the school has
been able to build on the steady foundation of good values
and the urge to excel. The endeavor has always been to
balance excellence in academics with creativity and
compassion
Preparing students to thrive in a global, technologically advanced society where
they must use digital tools that evolve at a blistering pace to succeed at careers
that did not even exist a decade ago is a daunting task! Meeting development
goals, encouraging green growth, and responding to climate change, ageing
societies and the knowledge economy is the need of the hour.
Information processing skills have become a survival skill—nearly ubiquitous
access to mountains of Web-based information may expose learners to more
information in just one day than those of previous generations would have been
able to access in a lifetime. In order to prepare students for their future, at DPS,
teachers have the support and leadership of school administrators who
understand and hone teachers in 21st century skills. The school management
ensures that instructional needs, the expertise of teachers, and the ultimate
needs of students are considered for the phenomenal growth of the institution.
Belonging, respect and justice, hope, celebration and quality learning and
teaching assume prime importance today.
As the Principal of a progressive school, I prefer to create situations where a
child challenges one's own ability, becomes one's own competitor and thus
keeps improving and rediscovering. It is the transformation of a school into an
educational powerhouse that induces strength within each student to stand on
his own. It becomes a source of light that illuminates the mind and soul of the
students and spreads the re of excellence and the warmth of compassion to
the darkest crevices of humanity.
DPS teachers are more than facilitators. They add the desired human touch and
provide opportunities to the students to develop critical thinking skills and
values that help them become responsible learners.
As Socrates said aptly, 'The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on
ghting the old but on building the new.'
As I conclude, I wish to remind all parents about the importance of the almanac
and the need for all parents and students to go through it page by page to
understand its contents .It is indeed the Bible of the school!
Wishing all students and parents the very best for an excellent school year!
