Dear Senator Murkowski,

.
As Chairman of the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee these are
sixteen tough questions that you must ask the oil & gas industry:
1. What will XOM do when 12 of their 25 refineries shut down in 12 years?
2. Will XOM file Chapter 11 when we close 12 of their refineries over 12 years?
3. How high ($/tCO2) must the CARBON FEE be for them to fiscally decide to
shutter the 1st refinery?
4. When we demand XOM shut down 12 refineries by 2030, who will pay to
dismantle and clean-up?
5. When we demand XOM wind down 25 refineries by 2050, would anybody buy
its obsolete assets?
6. When we demand XOM wind down 25 refineries by 2050, who’ll buy-back
investor $350bn shares?
7. When we demand XOM wind down 25 refineries by 2050, how will it pay
$600bn final expenses?
8. Must we make XOM tear down & clean-up 25 toxic refineries, pay-off debt &
buy-out investors fairly?
9. What will “just transition” look like for them and the oil industry closing
down 750 refineries by 2050?
10. How difficult will it be to reallocate heavy tar and light crude to declining
specialized refineries?
11. How the oil industry will collaborate to reallocate declining global crude oil
as 750 refineries close?
12. How many oil production and refining companies’ Boards of Directors will
will declare bankruptcy?
13. As production & refining Boards of Directors decide to declare bankruptcy,
who will clean-up their mess?
14. As production & refining Boards of Directors decide to declare bankruptcy,
who will be left to pay the tab?"
15. As production & refining Boards of Directors decide to declare bankruptcy,
who will suffer economically?
16. What is your endgame and strategy for "just transition" wherein you pay for
your own final expenses as you die?”
Sincerely yours,
Doug Grandt
