What is your standard or norm of morality?

Being good and and being bad are not different from each other, and doing evil and helping
others may be actually two the same thing. Our definition of good and evil comes from human
culture. We seem to have a clear depiction of good and evil because of this world that we live in.
However, because cultures are so diverse it has become inevitable that some views of cultures
conflict with other culture.

I set my standards in morality when and only when people are to be believed to be on their
stand. We cannot judge people on how they see the different side of the coin, hence, we can listen to
their point and could possibly help us understand each other. So to answer the question, of what is
my stand in morality? I could say that it is moral for people to do things that could be possibly good
for the mass and immoral if he would do it just for his personal gains and interest. Or the so called
sacrificial lamb, you sacrifice one to save the many. This whole world is about balance. There is a
fine line between everything. Good or bad are just reactions of people for a given situation. For
example : someone burns a house. Whether it is good or bad depends on the person's perception
about the situation : good if he really wanted to destroy the house, bad if he burnt it accidentalyor
to gain personal interest after doing so. But the situation is however the same - burning the house.

Morality and immorality is based on the maintainence of balance. If something seems to be

wrong for lot of people and right only for a few of people, is destroyed or messed around with
unless the situation becomes okay for both sides. For example, during the EDSA People Power,
there were people who wanted slavery and others who wanted to demolish slavery. The morality
issue arose because the balance of the society was lost. There were more people who didnt want
slavery rather than people who wanted. So the situation was natural to be distorted so that equal
number of people stay back.

To sum up my arguement, I could say that because of human’s inhereted culture, we are
divided by so many beliefs. It just simply means that we are being judged of what we believed in
instead of what we stand for. And so, I believe that we are not divided by what we believe in, but we
are divided because of the culture we are living in.
