Batool: Hello everyone! Welcome to our new podcast.

I am batool Dliqan, I am Suzana Alshrouf, I am Afnan Muwafaq, and I am Afnan Fakhri.

Suzana Alshrouf: Educational application are spreading widely all around the world, and they are
playing important goals in learning new languages. There are many effective apps for learning
English, but there are few apps that focus on teaching Arabic for foreigners from different ages;
therefore, I and my friends decided to create a new different application that will focus on teaching
Arabic. So, could you please tell us about your application Afnan?

Afnan Muwafaq: Yes, of course.

(‫ )اكتشف‬is my application that will be for foreign teenagers who want to learn Arabic. It consists of six
levels. Each level contains seven stages that need to be completed.

Sozana: So, that is great, but once the student master all the six levels what will be next?

Afnan Muwafaq: Once students finish these six levels, there will be new features that will suit his/her
new level.
Batool: Amazing!

Suzana Alshrouf: By the way, I forget to ask you what are the six main levels that your application
will cover?

Afnan Muwafaq: Well, the application will start by teaching the learners the alphabets. Then, it will
deal with forming the smallest syllables of the language. Moving to teach them how to form words
and combine them to form sentences. The last two levels will be for listening and reading in which the
learner will apply what he has learned in the first four levels.

Batool: Awesome!

Afnan Muwafaq: Batool, could you please tell us about your application?

Batool: For sure, Al-Batool bilArabi is an online application that will help students who are native or
non-native speakers to learn the Arabic language. My application will cover all levels (e.g. beginners
who have some knowledge about the Arabic language, intermediates, and advanced).

Afnan Mwafaq: But, Batool as we know that the writing skill is the most difficult skill that the learner
can master. How your application will solve this problem?

Batool: well, Al- Batool bilArabi will offer a feature that is similar to Grammarly, so the application
will correct your normal errors and mistakes. But, if you want to have valid feedback you should go
for a premium to have a specialist that will give you valid feedback.

Afnan Mwafaq: that's interesting!

Afnan fakhri: yes, it is. But, you have mentioned that your target audience includes Natives and non-
natives of Arabic. Could you please tell us why did you make such an idea?
The Script

Batool: it is a nice question girl. Honestly, Arab students need to know more about their language
because we are native in Arabic, but we do not know anything about it. It is worth to know how to use
your mother tongue, especially, when it comes to translation.

Afnan fakhri: since you talk about translation let me tell you about my application. As a person who is
fond of translation and used to watch movies in order to enhance my language skills. So, I thought
about an idea. Why not have an application in which there will be Arabic series and movies that will
be translated into English to benefit the non-native learner. So, this application called (‫ )ابجد‬and its
target audience are adults they will be different levels to suit all students, and it will be divided into
different sections where students can list their new vocabulary, either rather summaries or the episode
that they have watched and recommend new suggestions.

Batool: but, how this application with its features will serve the adults. You said movies and series.
How is that?

Afnan fakhri: Yes, there will be more cultural features offered by watching series and movies.
Especially, that adults will be interested in traveling to the Arab world, so they should know some
traditions and values that are presented.

Batool: Amazing!

Suzana Alshrouf: So, will be any updates in the future for this application?

Afnan Fakhri: Yes, of course, there will be continuously more updates due to having more series and
movies.

Afnan Muwafaq: Suzana! You forgot to tell us about your application.

Suzana: well, my application's name is learning Arabic alphabets by print, and it is a free application
that will focus on teaching Arabic for children. Children will learn each letter how to pronounce it,
how to recognize it, and how to read a word that contains the letter that you've learned.

Afnan Muwafaq : The question is why did you choose children as a target audience?

Suzana: actually, that is a great question. I chose it because some parents who are living abroad faced
difficulties in teaching their children how to speak Arabic as second children. Learning the alphabet
will be the main key to learn Arabic and, by the way, this application is not restricted by bilingual
families where one the speakers speak Arabic it's for everyone and for children.

Batool: But Suzana, could you please, like to make things clearer, tell us about what will your
application contain?

Sozana: yeah! It will contain games, videos, exercises, questions, and pictures for each letters. So, it
will make the process more enjoyable and children will be learning and playing game at the same
time which will be too much fun.
