Foreword
The manual provides necessary illustrations and procedures for
application and maintenance of the safety valve actuator.
The related procedures of the products in the manual which are
comply with API standards and the designated maintenance work
must be execute by MSP/DRILEX or the authorized agents. If
without the authorization and cause the whole、partial economic
costs or personnel injure and death.MSP/DRILEX does not bear
the responsibilities and the operation which is without authorization
also could be partuculars of a matter to terminate the relations of
the contract.Once happened also could be cause the products
cannot reach the related applicable requirements.
The manual must be stored properly and for publishing issues of
the revised version or supplements must be permitted by
MSP/DRILEX first.
The illustrations which in the manual are not comply with the
original proportionalities and please refer all of the related
information which were listed the constitutional parts numbers on
the device.

Chapter 1 System Introduction

一.Summary:

AH3027RS TYPE Safety Valve is self-developed、designed and

manufacturing by MSP/DRILEX. Once the wellhead appeared

abnormal situations that could be shut it down immediately for

protection.All of the AH3027RS TYPE actuator parts were

manufactured comply with the NACE MR-01-75 specification and

partial parts made by stainless steel to enhance the anticorrosion

capability.

Chapter 2 Operational Principle

Bring the slips joint which is on the actuator to connect with the hydraulic control

system.During non-operational conditions of the control system(means without

working pressure) and the safety valve is fully closed.But at the normal

conditions of the hydraulic control system (normal working pressure is 1600~

3000PSI)and the safety valve is opened.Once the wellhead appeared abnormal

conditions and the prssure of the hydraulic control system dropped to zero and

the piston will propel the gate upward rapidly which is under by the spring

elastic force effect to shut down the safety valve completely for protect the

wellhead.(Operational Principle see illustration 1)

Chapter 3 Pre-Check、Assembly、Inspection

1.Check internal valve body、seat and gate are neat and tidy whether or

not and without sundries to influence the assembly;

2.The actuator fitting must be protected by the plug;

3.Check steel ring groove and steel ring are there any pitfalls to influence

the sealing performance whether or not;

4.Check the screw which is connecting between the actuator and valve

bonnet intactly whether or not;

5.Check every sealing parts to confirm are there any pitfalls to influence

the sealing performance and if any should be replace it immediately.

Chapter 4 Actuator Assembly Procedure

1.Assembly Preparation:

Assembling metal surface must be

pad carton or soft rubber. Working

area must be neat and tidy without

sundries and dust.

All of the grease or lubricant must

be stored properly and keep neat

and tidy.Once finished use each

time that must be clean all of the

facilities(for example:brush 、

applicator etc.)and keep the lubricator Illustration 2

neat and tidy and without any sundries.

Assure all of the assembling facilities neat and tidy and easy to

use.Before assembly all of the metal components must be cleaning.

Before assebling and do not open the bag or box which is contain the

elastics parts.
WARNING:DO NOT USE THE CHLORIC SOLVENT TO CLEAN THE O type
valve or other sealing parts.
Check all of the components for confirm are there any burrs、seams、

marks、,scratch、snick、abrasion etc.

Check all of the bore diameters、especially for seal bore to assure are

there any pitfalls or damages on the surface whether or not.

check the outside of the shell body to confirm are there any dent or

distortion occurred and if distorted seriously that must be replace it in

time.(See illustration 2)

2.Actuator Head Assembly Installation:

1. Put the antifriction bearing into the internal diameter of the

actuator head.(See illustration 3)

2. Put the styrene sealing parts into the deep groove of the actuator

head. (See illustration 3)

WARNING:Assure the lip of the styrene sealing parts


upwards and point to the top of the actuator head.
Put the rabbling ring into the internal groove of the

actuator hear.(See illustration 4)


WARNING:Assure the lip of the rabbling ring downwards
and point to the bottom of the actuator head.

Supplemental Clarification of Rising Stem:

 Please put 2 antifriction rings into the internal groove of the actuator

head.

 Put the rabbling ring into top of the internal groove of the actuator

head and the lip of the rabbling ring against the actuator head.

 Put styrene sealing parts into the internal sealing groove to assure

the lip of the styrene sealing parts downwards and point to the big

styrene sealing parts or the bottom of the actuator head.(See

illustration7、8、9)

 Use silicone grease to lubricate the whole internal diameter of the

actuator head and then put beside.

三、Final Assembly:

Set upright the shell body on a surface and coat the anti-seize

lubricant on the top of the shell body and the bottom of the

thread.Use silicone grease to lubricate the whole bore diameter of

the shell body and then put beside. (See illustration 10、11、12)

Supplemental Clarification of Rising Stem:

Coat grease into the small countersink which is on the top of the

piston.

Use silicone grease to lubricate the whole piston and set upright

the hidden layer of the piston to insert to the bore of the actuator

head carefully and then use homogeneous stress by hands to push

it downwards until it reach the bottom. (See illustration 10、11、12)

Supplemental Clarification of Rising Stem:
(See illustration 13)

Put the top axes into the countersink which is on the top of the internal

piston and make one side of the threaded hole upwards. Top down

install the piston locknut onto the top axes and align the thread both

piston locknut and piston thread and then clockwise rotate the nut to

fasten it safely and could use adjustable spanner if necessary. Coat

silicone grease onto the top axes and insert the top axes/piston

assembly into the actuator head slowly and very carefully to prevent rip

or damage the sealing. Press it smoothly until the piston assembly

down to the bottom point.

The actuator already fully installed right now and could set it onto the

bonnet.(Please refer the below page”Installation of actuator and

bonnet” part,illustration 15)

Chapter 5 Periodic Maintenance

For regular operation recommend to implement the related schemes

as below :

During replace actuator check piston、actuator head、


sealing actuator bonnet & top axes

Close and open safety valve,it must be smooth and

Caution:For meet the tracking requests and all of the replaceable parts which
is under appraised that must be filed according to its series number by
written circumstance for the SSV actuator.

Chapter 6 Storage Specification

1.For temporary storage less than 6 months:

1.1 Clean accessories and lubricable parts;

1.2 Store the sealing parts comply with requirements of 3.

1.3 Use machine grease to daub the internal components;

1.4 Use heavy grease to stuff API steel ring groove and protected by

the proper articles;

1.5 Use plug to blockup all of the hydraulic fluid ports.

1.6 Pad the safety valve higher and put into the desiccative room for

prevent to contact with the stagnant water;

2.For long term storage more than or equal to 6 months:

2.1 Disassemble the safety valve;

2.2 Clean all of the parts and to make them dry;

2.3 Use heavy grease to daub all of the parts;

2.4 Use protecting cushion to protect all of the external sealing

surfaces;

2.5 Use plug to blockup all of the hydraulic fluid ports;

2.6 Pad the safety valve higher and put into the desiccative room for

prevent to contact with the stagnant water;

2.7 Before re-install that must be clean and use light oil to daub it.

3.Elastomer storage & inspection:

MSP/DRILEX elastomer made by special compound material for

ensure to extend the long life of storage, notice about the

circumstances as below could ensure its service life:

A、Should avoid the direct illumination and especially the UV of the

sunlight is detrimental to the elastomer.

B、The ozone in the environment will be react with the elastomer and

accelerate its metamorphism but the electronica devices will cause

the ozone so the elastomer should be far away from the electronic

devices for storage.

C、In the ozone or oxygen environment and the caloric will cause the

elastomer become gradual stiffen and in the warm and damped

climate especially in the tropic zone that the fungus will erode the

organic substance which is in the elastomer. The elastomer expose

in the low temperature environment also could cause some changes

and in (-40°F/-40°C) the elastomer will become brittle and easy to

crush but when the temperature rised to room temperature or (65°

F/18 ° C ) and the elastomer will be refresh its original

characteristics.

D、Different elastomers has different sizes、composition and function

cause different service life. Big elastomer has longer storage life

more than the small elastomer. Both rude and composite

elastomer will be swell or shrink due to the well field hydrogen

sulphide.

In summary different users should depend on actual situations to

judge whether to use or not it and if doubt it then should be replace

the elastomer immediately.

3.1 Elastomer Storage:

The elastomer should be stored under the relevant conditions as below:

a.The elastomer should place in the dark place or indoor is better

and far away for the sunshine,windows and direct artifical

illuminant;

b.The elastomer should be stored in the low temperature

environment (approximate 18°C around) and far away from

heat source、electronic devices and any devices that could

generate corona discharge which is caused by high voltage;

c.Do not hang up the elastomer and should be store it according to

its natural shapes;

d.The place which is for storage should be keep it as xero as

possible and grease or other fluids should be stored separately;

e.For long term storage that should be stored in the sealing vessel

or use the shield which is cannot be penetrate by temperature

or light for prevention;

f.Use the elastomer that should be comply with “First in,First out”

principle.

3.2 Elastomer Inspection:

a.Before use the elastomer and must be use bend、tension or

compress ways to check are there any crack、brittle surface or

other metamorphic aging phenomenas;

b.Check the elastomer surface are there any induration、chalk、

desquamation phenomenas;

If once the above mentioned pitfalls occurred and must be

replace it immediately.

Chapter 7 Safety Precaution

All of the MSP/DRILEX components are comply with the design

strictly to produce, manufacture,test and for avoid the potential

dangers and operational stabilities that must be use the MSP/DRILEX

components.

During operation that should be use various attractive identification

cards, manifestoes for remind the operators or other personnel to

aware the possibilities of dangers which is could cause personal

injury.

Do not make bold to change any internal structures of the safety valve

and if have any special requirements please contact with

MSP/DRILEX engineers.

For avoid the personal injury and the working area should be without

chemical substances or various detrimental interferences for assure a

safety workplace that must be comply with the circumstances as

below:

a.Debug the dangerous interfering elements which is

upper,beside and near by the ground on time ;

b.Debug the combustible material and leaky combustible

material which is near by the workplace on time;

c.Debug or correct any of the conditions that could cause serious
