Ernst & Young Training Centre for the
exam preparatory course as per the
registration deadlines and is required to
submit the following documents:
• 2 passport size photographs
• Copy of CPR
• Copy of passport
• Copies of transcripts, completion
certificates issued by the awarding
body
What is CAT?
The Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) is an internationally recognized accounting
technician’s qualification offered by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
(ACCA).
The CAT scheme is designed to equip candidates with all the necessary technical skills
and knowledge required to fulfill a support role in accountancy. The CAT qualification
can be used as a stepping stone into a career in accountancy or to validate the skills and
experience you have already gained in employment. It also provides a firm foundation
of knowledge and the opportunity to fast track towards becoming a professional ACCA
Accountant.
Entry requirements
There are no formal academic qualifications necessary to register. A candidate will have
to complete a total of 9 papers in introductory, intermediate and advanced levels.

Intermediate level (50% pass mark)

4 Accounting for Costs
Advanced level (50% pass mark)
5 Managing People and Systems
6 Drafting Financial Statements
7 Planning, Control and Performance Management
Options (two to be completed)
8 Implementing Audit Procedures
9 Preparing Taxation
10 Managing Finances
Exemptions
Holders of recognized qualifications may
receive exemptions from some of the
papers.
You may claim exemption from the
Introductory Level exams, if you satisfy
one year’s practical work experience
requirement and can verify this by
completing your Technician Training Record
(TTR), which will be sent to you when you
register as a CAT student.
The examination process
• There is no time limit to complete the
CAT qualification.
• Students can qualify at their own pace.
• There are two examination sessions
per year, one in June and the other in
December.
• There is no restriction to the number of
exams you may attempt, allowing you to
choose to sit as many or as few papers
as you like at each exam session.
• You are, however, recommended to
attempt a maximum of four papers in
each sitting.
• Students are expected to study each
module, Introductory, Intermediate,
Advanced and Options, in order.
Commencement dates & venue
The CAT exam preparatory course starts in
February and August every year to prepare
candidates for the June and December
examination sessions, respectively. All classes are
scheduled in the morning hours on a weekly basis
at Ernst & Young Training Center situated on the
18th floor of the Al Moayyed Tower.
Course fee structure
• Introductory level - BD 200/- per paper*
• Intermediate level - BD 215/- per paper*
• Advanced level - BD 225/- per paper*
*The fee is inclusive of tutorials and study materials only.
Initial registration, annual subscription & exam fees should be paid
directly to ACCA - UK.

As soon as your application has been
processed successfully (please allow up
to 6 weeks), you will receive your Student
Information Pack, which contains all you
need to know about your partnership with
ACCA, including:
• Registration Card
• Student Handbook
• Detailed Syllabus
• Practical Experience Requirements
• Notification of any Exemptions Awarded
(ACCA/CAT)
• Details of your Personal Passcode for
Access to ACCA Online Facilities
Refund policy:
• No refunds are entertained unless your
cancellation request is made 14 days prior to
the commencement of the course.
• The course may be postponed or cancelled
entirely at our discretion. In such case, fees
will be refunded in full.
• Your registration will get cancelled
automatically, if your course fee is not paid at
least 14 days prior to the commencement
of the course.
