Ingredients:
All purpose flour (Maida) – 1 cup
• Khoya (Unsweetened milk
solid) – 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp
• Curd – 1/4 cup
• Ghee + Vanaspati – 2 tbsp
• Cooking soda – 1/2 tsp
• Badam, cashew, pistachios – 5
each
• Raisin – 10-15
• Oil to deep fry
For sugar syrup
Sugar – 3 & 1/2 cups
Water - 3 & 1/2 cups
Saffron – A pinch (Optional)
METHOD
In a mixing bowl, place khoya
(crumbled, at room temperature),
maida, ghee, vanaspati, curd and
cooking soda. Mix well. Sprinkle
water (approx 2 to 3 tbsp) and knead
to a dough. Keep aside for 10 to 15
mins and prepare sugar syrup. Add
sugar and water in a vessel and bring
to boil. Once it starts boiling, simmer
it for four to five minutes in medium
flame. As the sugar syrup gets ready,
make the pedas. Knead the dough
again gently to make it smooth. Roll
into equal, small lemon sized balls.
Flatten it slightly. Stuff with little of
the mixed nuts say a large pinch.
Gather the sides and cover the nuts.
Heat oil and lower the flame. Add
several pedas at a time depending on
the size of your kadai and oil you
keep. Cook in medium flame, gently
turning now and then to ensure even
cooking. Once deep golden in colour,
drain in paper towels and soak in hot
sugar syrup. Let it soak of minimum 2
hours.

THEME OF THE MONTH – CARTOONS
“History will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday lives of children”.
“To laugh at you is to love yourself” 'cartoon' refers to
the drawing made in order to transfer the artist's design
onto the surface to be painted. Cartoons do play a role in
character development in a child's life. It's much easier
to teach them about basic moral values, for instance,
through cartoons with a message. Cartoons teach children the value of
respect and true friends. Through this theme, the children will learn about
different cartoon characters like Tom and Jerry, Donald Duck, and Mickey
Mouse. They will develop interest in weaving meaningful stories. Students
will gain knowledge about cartoonist, superheroes, difference between
reality and fiction. They will develop sense of responsibility and learn the
art of storytelling.
PROJECT OF THE MONTH –TOM AND
JERRY
Cartoons are source of entertainment, develop
relationship, it enhances imagination and
education. Tom and Jerry is an American animated
series of short films created in 1940 by William
Hanna and Joseph Barbera. It centers on a rivalry
between its two title characters, Tom, a cat, and
Jerry, a mouse and many recurring characters, based around slapstick
comedy. Through the project “Tom and Jerry” children will be exposed to
various cartoon characters and various TV Channels showing the cartoons.
They will understand about true friendship and concern for each other’s
well-being.
