1. Please gather PROMPTLY in Funger Hall no later than 11:15 a.m. so that the
Marshals may form the academic procession. Join your major department in the
assigned area of Funger Hall. If you are a double major, please choose the single
department you wish to be introduced with during the Celebration Program.
3. You will proceed at 11:35 a.m. in a single file line to the Smith Center under the
direction of the faculty marshals and TAKE YOUR SEATS as the guests arrive.
Please TURN OFF cell phones when you leave Funger Hall.
4. After the formal program, you will be introduced by name. Proceed in line to the
front of the Smith Center under the direction of the Faculty Marshals. Please
PRESENT YOUR CARD to the Marshal at the microphone, who will introduce you.
5. After you have been introduced, move forward for a greeting and photo with the
Dean. A representative of your department will also be present to greet you. Please
return to take a seat in a row designated by the Faculty Marshal.
6. After the introduction of the graduates, the Dean will deliver his charge to you. The
appropriate moment for your most exuberant celebration should FOLLOW the
Dean's congratulations, after he has delivered his charge.
7. PROTOCOL. Caps are worn throughout the Celebration Program. The tassel
should be worn on the right. THE MARSHALS, SPEAKERS, FELLOW
GRADUATES AND YOUR FAMILIES WILL APPRECIATE YOUR COURTESY
AND COOPERATION DURING THE PROGRAM. Remain in your seats until the
conclusion of the program and the Dean and Faculty have begun the recessional.
Follow the faculty to exit the hall and please move away from the Smith Center so all
the guests can exit promptly and safely.
