1.0 Scope of Work

1.1 The scope of work under this specification shall include design, engineering,
procurement, manufacture, shop fabrication, pre-assembly, assembly, tests and
inspection, cleaning, painting, packing at manufacturers work and shipment of
Butterfly valves & Wafer type check valves.

1.2 The scope shall include all necessary work and supply of equipment and
material whether mentioned in these specifications or not, but which are
necessary for the satisfactory, reliable and safe operation and maintenance of
the plant and required for achieving guaranteed performance of the plant. Any
equipment, device or material even if not included during the tender stage but
found necessary for the safe and satisfactory functioning of the units shall be
supplied, erected and commissioned by the BIDDER / SUPPLIER.

1.3 The scope of work shall also includes design, engineering, supply of material
such as plates, structures, blanks, plugs, tools, tackles, instruments, etc.,
required for erection, cleaning, hydrotesting and commissioning.

2.0 Scope of Supply

2.1 Supply of all valves forming part of various packages shall be as required by
the technical requirements, system requirement, safety requirement, operation
& maintenance requirement, statutory requirement, other codes and standards
requirement, P & IDs, etc. The supply of the valves shall be in accordance
with this technical specification.

2.2 In case of specific valve list / BOM are provided then the scope of supply shall be as
per the valve list / BOM.

2.3 Required number of commissioning spares for the valves supplied. The price
of the commissioning spares shall be included in the main valve itself and no
separate price shall be quoted for commissioning spares.

2.4 Recommended spares for two years operation.

2.5 Special tools, if any required.

2.6 Any other accessories as called for in the specification.

3.0 Scope of Services

3.1 Providing assistance for any trouble shooting activity at site.

4.0 Design requirement

4.1 The valves shall be as specified in Table –TS-P06-1, TS-P06-2 & TS-P06-3 of this
specification as applicable.

4.2 For butterfly valves, the disc shall rotate from the full open to the tight shut position.

The disc shall be contoured to ensure the least possible resistance to flow and
shall be suitable for throttling operation. While the disc is in the throttled
position, valve shall not create any noise or vibration. All butterfly valves shall
be suitable for throttling application from 5 to 90 Deg.

4.3 The butterfly valves shall be suitable for outdoor application with installation in any
position (horizontal / vertical).

4.4 All butterfly valves shall be closed by rotating the hand lever / gear operated wheel in
the clockwise direction.

4.5 Gear operator shall be provided for butterfly valve size NB 200 and above.

4.6 All butterfly valves shall be provided with directly mounted actuators. Each manual
actuator shall be designed with the mechanism totally enclosed in the housing.

4.7 Butterfly valve actuators shall be equipped with adjustable, mechanical stop - limiting
devices positioned to prevent over-travel of the valve disc in the open and
closed positions. In addition to the above, open & close limit switches with 2
NO & 2 NC contacts for manual gear operated valves shall be provided. The
limit switches shall be provided with rating of 230 VAC & 5 A and electrical
connection shall be ½” NPT (F). Enclosure of the limit switch shall be
weatherproof IP-67.

4.8 The actuator shall be designed to control the butterfly valve in all positions from fully
open to fully closed and from fully closed to fully open with control in any
intermediate position.

4.9 The solenoid operated valves shall be provided with following accessories:

a. Pneumatic actuators
b. Air filter regulator with gauges
c. Two Nos. of limit switches, each with 2 NO & 2 NC contacts.
d. Solenoid operated valve of 230 V AC, 5 Amps of 3 /2 way type.

4.10 The manual over ride arrangement with hand wheel shall be provided for solenoid
operated valves to operate the valves in case of failure of pneumatic actuators.

4.11 All accessories shall be mounted on the valve itself and interconnected by SS
316 stainless steel tubing.

4.12 The butterfly valve shall be provided with locking device in both open & close
position of the valve.
4.13 The indication of the position of the disc shall be integral with shaft engraved on the
body of the valve. The indication may be accomplished by a mark on the shaft.
The design shall ensure that it indicates open, close and intermediate position
of the valve correctly. Shaft to lever connections shall be designed so that the
lever always correctly indicates the disc position.

4.14 Butterfly valve body shall be internally rubber lined extending upto the edges of the

flanges without any joints and disc of the butterfly valve shall be coated with
epoxy.

4.15 Valve seats & “O” rings shall be of EPDM rubber of replaceable type.

4.16 The rubber lining thickness shall be as per manufacturer’s standard. However, the
minimum thickness shall be 3 mm.

4.17 No reclaimed rubber shall be used.

4.18 The seals, both on the body and on the disc shall be of the material specified.
Necessary shaft seal shall be provided and adequately designed to ensure no
leakage across the seal. This seal shall be designed so that they will allow
replacement without removal of the valve shaft. The sealing ring on the disc
shall be continuous type and easily replaceable.
4.19 BIDDER / SUPPLIER to furnish technical requirement for installation of wafer type
check valves, such as minimum straight length from the pump discharge and
the minimum straight length upto the first elbow of downstream of the valve,
minimum pressure of the fluid and maximum pressure of the fluid etc.

4.20 Direction of flow shall be marked on the valve body by stamping or embossing and
the tag Nos. for all valves shall be either riveted or punched on the valve body.

4.21 The minimum rating of the valves shall be PN 10.

4.22 Fabricated type butterfly valves are not acceptable.

4.23 The actuators for motor operated valves shall be designed to the shut off pressure of
the valve. The motor actuators and the electric motor of the actuator shall be
as specified in specification no.TS-P15 and specification no. TS-E01
respectively.

4.24 Valves envisaged in vacuum services shall be provided with gland sealing wherever
specified.

4.25 The opening & closing time for motorised actuator shall be 20 sec. Maximum.

4.26 No asbestos or cadmium based material shall be used.

5.0 Painting and protection

The surface preparation, the painting and its protection shall be as specified in
specification no.TS-Q03 of this specification.

6.0 Name Plate

All valves shall be provided with name plate. Name plate shall be of non-
corrosive material with engraved black lettering on a white background.
Name plate data shall be inscribed on the plate in such a manner that it cannot
erode or peel off. Name plate shall be marked in accordance with MSS

Standard SP-25 and ASME B 16.34 as minimum. BIDDER / SUPPLIER
shall furnish the details that will be incorporated on the name plate along with
the bid. No asbestos based or cadmium based material shall be used.

7.0 Inspection and testing

7.1 All valve body shall be hydraulically tested to 1.5 times of the rated pressure against
38˚ C of the respective valve pressure class rating.

7.2 All valves shall be tested for seat leakage to 1.1 times of the rated pressure against 38˚
C of the respective valve pressure class rating.

7.3 All valve major material shall be tested for chemical and mechanical properties as per
the relevant codes and standards.

7.4 Performance test on valve with direct mounted actuator shall be operated three times
from fully closed to fully opened position and the reverse under no flow
conditions.

7.5 Ozone resistance testing on rubber compounds shall be performed in accordance with
ASTM D 1149 using 50 PPHM minimum ozone concentration. The tests shall
be conducted on unstressed samples for 70 hrs. at 40 Deg. C without visible
cracking in the surfaces of the test samples after tests.

7.6 Volume expansion test on rubber compounds shall be performed in accordance with
ASTM D 471. The rubber compound shall have less than 2% volume increase
after immersing a sample in distilled water at 23 Deg. C. + 1 Deg. C
for 70 hrs.

7.7 Rubber lining shall be spark tested for checking the continuity, as applicable.

7.8 Magnetic particle testing on disc on the trunion portion.

7.9 Ultrasonic testing and dye penetrant testing on shaft of diameter 40 mm and above.
