Contamination search

 SHSY5Y cells
o Unlikely, because Jade has split these cells, and although they were contaminated, they
were contaminated with a different organism to whatever contaminated my wells
(budding fungi were seen in her cells, while mine had bacteria that looked like a white
sediment to the naked eye)
 Clear DMEM media
o Currently being tested for contamination
o Possible, but not likely
 I tested the media a week ago, and there was no growth

o Jade as been using the RA with no contamination (for her greeks)

o If PBS was the cause then the wells with 0ng added synuclein should not have become
contaminated, but they are contaminated
 a-Syn
o Unlikely
 If this was the source, the wells with no synuclein added should have not
become contaminated. However the wells with a-Syn added did become
contaminated a day early compared to the ones with 0 synuclein added
 If this was the source, then there should have been a 4x increase in
contamination in the 1000ng well compared to the 250ng well. This was not
seen
 Filter sterilized media
o Should not be contaminated because the media was filter sterilized.
o Contamination is possible because I drew media out of it many times (for washing each
well) – perhaps my technique was not perfect
