Objectives

1. To produce an NMP standard geo-referenced digital transcription of the

form and extent of all archaeological features visible on aerial
photographs

2. To create NMP standard monument records with the location, indexed

classification, archaeological description and analysis, and main sources
of all archaeological sites visible on aerial photographs

3. To incorporate or supply the above NMP data in a form suitable for use in
the Wessex Archaeology SE RCZAS project database

4. To provide a report on the NMP component with an overview of

methodology, sources, and archaeological highlights to assist the
assessment of the wider SE RCZAS project area and inform future NMP
projects.

Methodology

1. Photo-rectification will be performed by transforming oblique and vertical

photographs using AERIAL5, GED, Erdas Imagine 9.x (image to map
rectification) (map scale = 1:2500)

2. Digitizing of archeological features and monument polygons against

georeferenced and rectified photographs. Archaeological features will be
on a series of standardised NMP layers depending on their form; for
example as banks, ditches or structures. All the features will be digitized
on different layers that compile upto 16 layers approximately
