Chinese Government Scholarship


Bilateral Program is a full scholarship established by MOE in accordance with educational ex
change agreements or MOUs between Chinese government and governments of other coun
tries, institutions, universities and international organizations. It supports undergraduate pr
ograms, master’s programs, doctoral programs, general scholar programs and senior scholar
programs. Applicants shall apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study in their h
ome countries.

A Chinese government full scholarship includes:


1. a waiver of fee for registration, tuition, laboratory experiments, internship, and basic t
extbooks;
2. free on-campus dormitory accommodation;
3. monthly living allowance;
4. one-off settlement subsidy;
5. outpatient medical service and Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Sche
me for International Students in China;
6. one-off inter-city travel reimbursement.

Eligibility
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and be in good health.
2. Education background and age limit:
a. Applicants for undergraduate programme must have senior high school diploma with
good academic performance and be under the age of 25.
b. Applicants for master’s degree programme must have bachelor’s degree and be und
er the age of 35.
c. Applicants for doctoral degree programme must have master’s degree and be under
the age of 40.

How to apply
1. Applicants consult the dispatching authorities for overseas study in their home countrie
s for the details and requirements of Bilateral Program and submit the application as re
quired.
2. Once recommended by the dispatching authorities, candidates shall contact their target
university for Admission Letter.
3. Recommended candidates must finish the online application procedure at CSC Online A
pplication System for International Students. Please go to www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or ww
w.campuschina.org and click Application Online for International Students, complete th
e required information, submit the completed Application Form for Chinese Governmen
t Scholarship online and print a hard copy.
4. A package of complete application documents must be submitted to the dispatching aut
horities in their home countries before the deadline. (Please check Application Docume
nts for the detailed checklist.)
5. CSC does not accept any individual application other than the recommended applicatio
ns from the dispatching authorities. Candidates with Admission Letter will be placed in t
he host university; those without Admission Letter should follow CSC’s placement.

onal Students and Agency Number.
Checklist for Application Documents
1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English)
The candidates should visit the website of the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and subm
it their application information on the onlined application platform by the CSC (laihua.cs
c.edu.cn). Download the ‘Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship’, print t
hem out and sign them. The application will not be accepted by the CSC without the on-
lined application.

2. Notarized highest diploma (photocopy)


Prospective dip0loma winners must submit official proof of student status by their curre
nt school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with
notarized Chinese or English translations.

3. Academic transcripts
Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized
Chinese or English which has been notarized.

4. A Study Plan or Research Plan


The plan should be written in Chinese or English, a minimum of 200 words for undergra
duates, 500 words for non-degree students, and 800 words for postgraduates.

5. Recommendation letters
Applicants for graduate programmes or senior scholar programmes must submit two let
ters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.

6. Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardia
ns in China.

7. Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy o
f the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy shoul
d be kept by the applicant. The form designed by the Chinese quarantine authority can
be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org) T
he physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Exami
nation Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physici
an, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid
. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid fo
r only 6 months.

8. A pre-admission Notice
Applicants who apply to GZUCM can contact our Foreign Student Affairs Office of Intern
ational College(wszsb@gzhtcm.edu.cn) to get the pre-
admission notice. According to CSC, your first choice of university will be according to y
our preadmission notice. Applicants should enclose the letter in the application packag.
9. For undergraduate students, HSK Certificate (Level 4 above) should enclose in the appli
cation package. Without the certificate, a presessional course is required.

NOTE: The above documents should be bound on top left corner (in duplicate). No appli
cation documents will be returned.
Approval and Notification
1. Recommended application documents from dispatching authorities will be reviewed
by CSC. The applications will be regarded as invalid if the application documents fail t
o meet the requirements or the applicants are ineligible.

2. Qualified applications will be forwarded to universities for recruitment.CSC reserves


the right to make necessary adjustments on the university options, specialties, progr
am categories and duration of study. CSC will forward the nominations to universitie
s for recruitment approval. The application enclosed with Admission Letter will be fo
rwarded directly to the host university which granted the Letter.

3. Scholarship applicants accepted by Chinese universities will be officially awarded the


Chinese Government Scholarship with the approval from CSC. Each applicant can onl
y be granted one scholarship program.

4. CSC will send, before July 31st, the List of Scholarship Winners, Admission Letter and
Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) to the Chinese Embassy (Consulate
General), who will forward the documents to the dispatching authorities for oversea
s study or the scholarship winners.

5. Students are not permitted, in general, to apply to change their specialties, host univ
ersities or the duration of study as specified in the Admission Letter once they agree
to accept the scholarship.

6. If applicants fail to register before the deadline for registration, their scholarship will
not be reserved.
