THE PASSIVE VOICE (1)

WATCH OUT
Some verbs can have two objects.

Somebody gave the police the information.

So it is possible to make two passive sentences:

The police was given the information.


The information was given to the police.
Other verbs that can have two objects are:

ask offer pay show teach tell


I was offered the job, but I refused it. OR The job was offered to me, but I refused it.

Have you been shown the new machine? OR Has the new machine been shown to you?

The men were paid £400 to do the work. OR £400 were paid to the men to do the work.

Write these sentences in the passive voice. More than one


option is possible.

1. They didn’t give me the information I needed.


I wasn’t given the information I needed.

The information I needed wasn’t given to me.

2. They asked me some difficult questions at the interview.
