METHODOLOGY FOR DOWEL BAR GROUTING

MANPOWER REQUIRED:
1. Site Engineer

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

1. Drilling machine with capacity up 300mm depth

2. Drilling bit
3. DG -5KVA
4. Air Blower
5. Tractor trolley for carrying tools and Tackles

Material Required:

1. 20mm dia reinforcement Bar

2. Hilti Chemical HIT HY 150 with applicator gun
3. Cleaning brush
WORK PROCEDURE:
1. Exact location of dowel bar required is to be marked on the identified
structure.
2. The 300mm depth and 28mm dia hole have to be made with the help of
drilling machine .The depth is to be checked and the hole is to be made free
of dust/loose unwanted material by air blower and then to be cleaned two
times by brush. Again after brushing the drilled hole to be cleaned with air
blower.
3. After cleaning open Hilti HIT HY 150 and put the static mixer and place the
cartridge along with static mixer into the application gun. Apply the chemical
solution in the drilled hole by pressing the trigger of application Gun.
4. After filling the hole with the chemical mortar ,the reinforcement bar required
to be pushed by twisting mode which will help the bonding of mortar with bar
and concrete surface. Push the bar to the required depth of 300 mm.

Safety Measures:

1. All safety precautionary measures shall be taken as stated below:

2. Signboards shall be placed along the right hand side on increasing chainage
at every 500 meters i.e. “KEEP RIGHT WORK IN PROGRESS”, GO SLOW
WORK IN PROGRESS”.
3. Moveable signboards shall be place at area where heavy machineries and
survey works being carried out. The movement of machines and lorries at
these areas shall be controlled by flagman’s Signboards such as “CAUTION
MAN AT WORK GO SLOW”, “CAUTION GO SLOW WORK IN
PROGRESS”.
4. The area shall be restricted from public entrance.
5. All truck shall be provided with reverse horns.
6. Only experienced and licensed operators / drivers shall be engaged for
excavation and hauling.
7. Flagmen shall be provided at all exit points of the trucks /tippers near the job
to be done.
8. If night work is to be carried out the area shall be sufficiently provided with
lighting.
9. The pit, which exceeds 1200mm in depth, shall be barricaded.
10. Proper PPEs shall be used the workers and staff involved in the work.
11. Safety as per IRC-SP-55-2001 may be taken up in location warranting need.
