Andrés Guadarrama | (Mexico City, 1991)

Mexican composer, performer and improviser. He received his bachelor’s degree in


composition from the Centro de Investigación y Estudios de la Música (CIEM). He
currently studies with composers Germán Romero and Samuel Cedillo.

His music has been performed in Switzerland, Japan, Colombia, Spain and Mexico by
musicians such as UMS ’n JIP, Eva Zöllner, Taller Sonoro, Boglárka Nagy, Irvine Arditti,
Tambuco among others.

He has participated in courses and master classes with composers such as Marcelo
Toledo, Ignacio Baca Lobera, Julio Estrada, Peter Ablinger, Iván Naranjo, Dror Feiler,
Javier Torres Maldonado, and Iñaki Estrada, among others.

In 2016, he represented Mexico at the 63rd International Rostrum of Composers of


UNESCO with his piece Yugen, which was recommended within the category of under
30 years of age.

He was recipient of the Jóvenes Creadores 2017-2018 del FONCA, Mexico’s most
important grant for young composers.

In 2017 he cofounded, with other mexican musicians, Vorágines, an alternative artistic


platform dedicated to the creation and exhibition of diverse creative practices

He is a bassist in various ensembles focused on contemporary music, improvisation


and experimental rock.
