OWON Smart Home System User Guide - Android

Chapter 1 Get started


To get started, you will need:

1. A Wi-Fi router that connects to the Internet (should have the SSID and password of this router)

2. A gateway

3. An android phone

Follow these steps to get started:

If you are using SEG-X1 Gateway:

1. Power on your gateway and plug in the ethernet cable


2. Wait for the gateway's indicator to rapidly flash in green (this means the gateway is connected to the
internet)
3. Connect your android phone's wifi to the same router connected by the SEG-X1 gateway

note: If the SEG-X1 gateway does not flash green, follow the guide in the Gateway manual or mobile app.

If you are using SEG-X3 or SEG-X3-N Gateway:

1. Power on your gateway and wait for the LED light to start flashing purple (This means the gateway is
in AP mode)
2. Connect to phone to the Wi-Fi of the router

note: If the gateway LED light is not flashing in purple, please follow the gateway manual to reset it to
factory settings.

Chapter 2 Mobile App installation


Search and install "SmartOWON" on the Google play. See below for detailed steps:

Step 1. Tap "Play store" icon to enter Google Play


Step 2. Type "SmartOWON" (capitalization is not important) into the search bar at the top and press the
search icon

Step 3. Tap the "SmartOWON" icon to enter the install page

Step 4. Tap "INSTALL" to start the installation

Step 5. In the APP Permission interface, turn on all the access and tap "Confirm"
Step 6. Open the app (You could also open the "SmartOWON" app in the home screen)

note: You can also download the app from Huawei market and Baidu application market.

Chapter 3 Register an account


You will need to register an account to control your system.

See below detailed steps:

Step 1. Launch the app and tap "Register"


note: If this is not your first time using the app, you may tap the "Register" in the bottom right corner.

Step 2. To register an account, you can register using your regular email address or mobile number.

note: If you are an old user, please register a new account first. Login to your account, restore your
gateway's Wi-Fi and restart the configuration wizard (to restore the gateway's Wi-Fi, simply press the reset
button ONCE while holding the wifi button of the gateway)

Step 3. If you use your mobile phone number to register, the “Area Code” will be displayed automatically on
the right side of the account name. Please confirm whether the identified area code is correct. If not, you
can modify it manually.
Step 4. After the registration is successful, you can log in to use the account.

Chapter 4 Login Introduction


Step 1. Log into the account by entering the correct mobile phone number or email and password

note: If you use your mobile phone number to register, the “Area Code” will be displayed automatically on
the right side of the account name. Please confirm whether the identified area code is correct. If not, you
can modify it manually.

Step 2. You may tap “Forgot Password” and follow the instructions to reset your password if needed

Step 3. If you need other login methods, you can select the “Other options” at the bottom left of the login
interface and log in according to the guidelines
Chapter 5 Add new devices
note: No devices will be shown on the inteface during your initial login.

5.1 How to add SEG-X3/SEG-X3-N to the account

Step 1. After logging in to the account, tap the "+" sign in the upper left corner

Step 2. Choose SEG-X3


Step 3. For first time user, tap "Configuration wizard"

note: If you have bound the gateway to your account, but your router has been replaced, you can first
restore the gateway's Wi-Fi and configure the gatway to the new router (To restore gateway's Wi-Fi and
restart the configuration wizard (to restore the gateway's Wi-Fi, simply press the reset button ONCE while
holding the wifi button of the gateway)

Step 4. Tap "next"

Step 5. Choose your Wi-Fi


note: Please do not choose 5G router for the configuration

Step 6. Enter the Wi-Fi password and click "confirm"

Step 7. Tap the "Start" button, wait for the SEG-X3/SEG-X3N gateway to flash blue, and the application
software prompts that the binding is successful. Now you can find the gateway in the gateway list
note:If you have multiple gateways that are powered on at the same time, and they are all used for the first
time, you have to configure the gateway one by one. You may tap "refresh" to find more gateways (if any)

Step 8. If your gateway is flashing blue, you can also bind to your account by tapping the "others" -> "scan
gateway's QR code" -> OK

5.2 How to add SEG-X1 to the account

Step 1. Be sure that your phone is connected to the same router connected by the SEG-X1

Step 2. After logging in to the account, tap the "+" sign in the upper left corner
Step 3. Select SEG-X1

Step 4. Click "next"

Step 5. Scan and obtain the QR code on the SEG-X1 and click "OK" to bind
Step 6. If your gateway is not flashing green, please choose other method for binding

Step 7. Follow the application guide, click the "Next"

Step 8. Tap "Start"


Step 9. Select the gateway you want to bind to your account

note: If you cannot find the gateway that you want to bind in the list, please confirm that the mobile phone
Wi-Fi and the gateway are connected to the same router, then click the "Refresh" button to find more
gateways (if any)

5.3 Gateway List Interface

1. After the gateway configuration is successfully, the gatway will be displayed on the gateway list
interface

2. Select the desired gateway that you want for the system

Chapter 6 Key interface and main function introduction


note: No devices will be shown on the inteface during your initial login.

6.1 Menu bar

You can find the Home, Energy, Comfort, light, Security, Video, Setting interfaces in the menu bar.

Tap the back button to return to the gateway list interface.


6.2 Scene interface

Step 1. Tap on any scene button to execute the scene mode

Step 2. Tap "Edit" and select a scene to enter the scene editing interface

Step 3. Tap the "+" button to select devices and corresponding state (Arm/Disarm or On/off)

Step 4. Select the desired device in the device list and tap "Done" button
Step 5. After selecting the devices, "save" the scene and execute it in the scene interface

Step 6. The selected devices can also be deleted

6.3 Energy interface

Energy measuring devices such as smartplug, power clamp, etc. will be shown in this interface. The App
interface will be as below:
6.4 Comfort interface

1. Thermostats, air conditioners, temperature and humidity sensors, etc. will be shown in this interface.
The App interface will be as below:

2. Users may control the A/C split controller in this interface

6.5 Light interface

1. Power relays, light LED bulbs, etc. will be shown on this interface.

2. Users may control the lighting devices as well as adjust brightness and color temperature in this
interface. The App interface will be as below:

6.6 Security interface

1. All security sensors including door/windows sensors, PIR (motion sensors), smoke detector sensors,
etc. will be shown on this interface. The App interface will be as below:

2. In a armed state, an alarm will be sent to your mobile phone if the sensor is triggered

3. Here is the case, if you have added a Siren:

4. In a arm state, siren will sound when the sensor is triggered.

5. In a disarmed state, only emergency sensors (Smoke detector, CO detector, Gas detector, SOS etc)
will trigger the siren
6.7 Video interface

1. For first time users, please enter the account name and follow the pop-up window to add the camera

2. If there is no pop-up window shown in the screen, please tap the "add" in the upper left corner to add
the camera

3. A gateway can support up to 4 cameras, which are shown in this interface

note: For old users, after you bind the gateway with your new account, a window will ask you to enter the
old username of the camera when you enter the video interface

6.8 Gateway setting

1. To set the linkage between control device (e.g. power relay, smart plug, etc.) and sensors

2. To set the gateway's time zone

3. To upgrade Gateway's firmware


6.9 Application setting

1. To change password

2. To upgrade APP

3. To view help

Chapter 7 Add new device

7.1 How to add device into the system

Please follow the steps below to add new devices;

Step 1: Set the system allow devices to be added

Switch to the Settings interface, then tap "Add new devices", then the system will allow devices to be
added. The App interface will be as below:
note: for this step, your could also do the following: press the “Z" button of the gateway for three seconds
until the blue light turns solid. Then it will allow devices to be added into the network for the next 60
seconds.

Step 2: Set the devices on join mode

Please follow the user guide of the corresponding devices to set the devices to joining status. Then the
devices will add into this system automatically while the system is in adding new devices mode ( while the
gateway's blue LED light is solid).

Below 7.2 section will show you details of how to add some typical devices.

7.2 Add devices into the System

7.2.1 Add a smart plug WSP403

Step 1: Plug the smart plug WSP403 into an outlet and turn it on

note: If the LED of WSP403 is solid on (either green or red), please refer to the user guide to return it to
factory settings.

Step 2: Tap "Add new devices" in the mobile app

note: for this step, you could also press the "Z" button of the gateway for around three seconds until the
blue LED is solid on.
Then the WSP403 will add into the system automatically. If added successfully, the LED indicator of the
WSP403 will turn to solid, in the meanwhile, the App interface will be as below:

7.2.2 Add a LED bulb LED622

Step 1: Power on the LED bulb

note: If the LED does not flash twice after you power it on, please refer to the user guide to return it to
factory settings.

Step 2: Tap "Add new devices" in the mobile app

note: For this step, you could also press the "Z" button of the gateway for around three seconds until the
blue LED is solid on.tThen the LED622 will add into the system automatically. If added successfully, the
LED622 will flash once and the App interface will be as below:

7.2.3 Add a door/window sensor DWS312

Step 1: Install 2 x AAA battery to power on the sensor

Step 2: Tap "Add new devices" in the mobile app


note: for this step, you could also press the Wi-Fi button of the gateway for around two seconds until the
blue LED is on.

Step 3: Press the side button of the sensor, and the device will flash green

Then the DWS302 will add into the system automatically. If added successfully, the LED indicator of the
DSW302 will become solid for a while then off. The App interface will be like below:

7.2.4 Add a dimmer switch SLC603

note: this SLC603 is designed to work with a LED bulb such as LED622.

Step 1: Intall 2 x AAA batteries into the SLC603

Step 2: Tap "Add new devices" in the mobile app

note: For this step, you could also press the "Z" button of the gateway for around three seconds until the
blue LED is solid on.
Step 3: Press the reset button once

Then the SLC603 will be added into the system automatically. If added successfully, the LED indicator of
the reset button will flash green for three times, but this deivice will not be shown in the App.

Regarding how to bind with LED622, please see section "8.1 LED bulb detailed functions—>bind with
SLC603 dimmer switch"

7.2.5 Add an Split AC control AC201

Step 1: Plug the AC201 Split AC control into an outlet facing your air conditioner that you would like to pair
and control

note: If the LED of AC201 is solid yellow, please refer to the user guide to return it to factory settings.

Step 2: Tap "Add new devices" in the mobile app

note: For this step, you could also press the "Z" button of the gateway for around three seconds until the
blue LED is on.

Then the AC201 will be added to the system automatically. If added successfully, the LED indicator of the
AC201 will turn solid yellow, in the meanwhile, the App interface will be as below:
Step 3: Pair with your air conditioner

1. Tap "pair"

2. Tap Option 1 "SCAN for Paring Code"

3. Tap "A/C Brand" and choose your brand

4. Tap "SCAN"
5. Then the AC201 will be in the process of searching for the paring code, press
"STOP" right after you hear a beep from the air conditioner

6. Tap "Verify"

7. Press "ok" when you see a prompt asking you to verify if this code will work with
your air coditioner or not
8. Then you will enter the below interface, set system, power, temperature, on/off, etc.
to see if the air conditioner responds or not

9. If it works, press "Save"

7.2.6 Add an IP Camera IPC805


Step 1: Power on your IP camera

note: If the LED indicator in the camera is not flahsing, please reset it to factory settings follow the gateway
user guide.

Step 2: For first time users, please enter the username (mobile phone number or email) and password

Step 3: Tap "next" (if no window is pop up, please tap the "add" in the upper left corner

Step 4: Choose your Wi-Fi and enter the password (tap the "refresh" button if your Wi-Fi is not found

Step 5: After the camera is connected to the network, select the corresponding device to bind

Step 6: You will be able to see the video after the binding is successful
Please note:

1. You can bind up to four cameras under 1 account

2. To add the second camera, tap "edit" > "+" and follow the guide

Chapter 8 Detailed functions introduction

8.1 Smart plug detailed functions

On/off and smart plug status

Tap the on or off, the left “plug” icon will be on (white) and off (grey) respectively, also for this smart plug, it
will show you the instant power and energy consumption.

Energy history data

Tap the ">" to view the history data of the plug


Change name

Step 1. Tap "Edit"

Step 2. Tap change name (the pen) icon

Step 3. Type a name and tap "OK"

Step 4. Finish
On/off schedule

Create a schedule item

Step 1. Tap the schedule icon

Step 2. Tap the "+" icon

Step 3. Set and save

Step 4. Finish

Enable and disable a schedule item

Note: Grey "—" means disable, orange "—" means enable.

Step 1. Tap the grey "—" icon to enable this schedule item
Step 2. Tap the orange "—" to disable this schedule item

Adjust a schedule item

Tap ">" to change schedule setting

Step 1. Tap “>” icon

Step 2. Set and save

Step 3. Finish
Delete a schedule item

Step 1. Tap "Delete"

Step 2. Tap Delete of the item

Step 3. Tap "OK" icon

Step 4. Finish

8.2 LED bulb detailed functions

On/off and LED status

Tap the "on" or "off" icon, the left “light” icon will be on (white) and off (grey) respectively.

Adjust brightness and color temperature

Step 1. Tap the ">" icon will enter dimmer and color temperature setting screen
Step 2. Adjust brightness and color temperature

Change name

Step 1. Tap "Edit"

Step 2. Tap change name (the pen) icon

Step 3. Type a new name and tap "OK"

Step 4. Finish
On/off schedule

Create a schedule item

Step 1. Tap schedule icon

Step 2. Tap the "+" icon

Step 3. Set and save

Step 4. Finish

Enable and disable a schedule item


note: Grey "—" means disable, orange "—" means enable.

Step 1. Tap the grey "—" icon to enable this schedule item

Step 2. Tap the orange "—" to disable this schedule item

Adjust a schedule item

Tap ">" to change schedule setting

Step 1. Tap the “>” icon

Step 2. Set and save

Step 3. Finish
Delete a schedule item

Step 1. Tap "Delete"

Step 2. Tap "Delete" of the item

Step 3. Tap "OK" icon

Step 4. Finish

Bind with SLC603 dimmer switch

Please follow the below steps to bind with SLC603 in the mobile app:

Step 1. Tap the “Edit"


Step 2. Tap the bind icon to bind with the SLC603

Step 3. During the process of identifying, the LED622 will start flashing

Step 4. Press and hold the reset button of the SLC603 for three seconds until the LED indicator flashes
green three times, the SLC603 will bind with the LED622, once succesful, the LED622 will stop flashing,
then you will able to use the SLC603 to control the LED622.

8.3 Door/window sensor detailed functions

Arm and Disarm the system

Step 1. Arm the system

Step 2. Disarm the system


Change name

Step 1. Tap "Edit"

Step 2. Tap change name (the pen) icon

Step 3. Type a name and Tap "OK"

Step 4. Finish
Arm and disarm schedule

Create a schedule item

Step 1. Tap "Schedule"

Step 2. Tap the "+" icon

Step 3. Set and save


Step 4. Finish

Enable and Disable a schedule item

Note: Grey "—" means disable, orange "—" means enable.

Step 1. Tap the grey "—" icon to enable this schedule item

Step 2. Tap the orange "—" to disable this schedule item

Adjust a schedule item

Step 1. Tap the ">" icon to enter the schedule adjustment interface
Step 2. Set and save

Step 3. Finish

Delete a schedule item

Step 1. Tap "Delete"

Step 2. Tap "Delete" of the item

Step 3. Tap "OK"


Step 4. Finish

Sensor history

Step 1. Tap "History" icon

Step 2. Records details


Step 3. Tap "Device" to select the corrsponding device list

Step 4. Tap "Time" to select the time range

Step 5. Tap "Status" to select record type

Step 6. Tap "…" to select between Records and Actions


8.4 Other functions

8.4.1 Upgrade app

Step 1: Tap "Settings"

note: This setting is in the setting interface next to the gateway list

Step 2: Tap "About"

Step 3: Tap "Check Update" to see if there is an available update app and gateway firmware, if so, tap the
corresponding link to download and update
8.4.2 Upgrade gateway firmware

Step 1: Tap the menu bar

Step 2: Tap "Settings"

Step 3: Tap "about"


Step 4: Tap "check update" and update the newer version

8.5 Change timezone

note: To set timezone, go to gateway's setting

Step 1: Tap "Select time zone"

Step 2: Select your timezone and it will save automatically

8.6 Linkage setting

Step 1: Go to gateway's setting

Step 2: Tap the ">" in the linkage


Step 3: Tap "+"

Step 4: Tap "triggers"

Step 5: Set the status of the devices and tap save

Step 6: Tap "Actuators"

Step 7: Set the status of the devices and tap save


Step 8: Tap the schedule icon to set schedules

Step 9: Tap to edit linkage name

Step 10: Save the linkage setting

8.7 Privacy policy

You may view the privacy policy in the login interface
