The Challenges Ahead for the Bangladeshi Women: An Observation

In the existing socio-economic framework of traditional Bangladeshi societies, the women in

Bangladesh have to perform multi-dimensional role in materializing their dreams, aspirations,
expectations and enthusiasm into implementable reality where Bangladeshi women have to
confront varying degrees of challenges, problems, obstacles and oddities at various phases of
their evolutionary life and lifestyle.

The issue of the development of women should be considered as part of the improvement
initiatives of human rights and opportunities where the aspects such as dignity, equity, equality,
participation, reduction of discrimination, state and position of women in the family, society,
country and cross-national borders, women education etc. should be prioritized in line with the
development endeavours of women folk in the other nations of the world.

It is imperative to raise familial, social, national and international consciousness and awareness
regarding women so that they can realize how they should cope up with the favourable and
susceptible situations and conditions at different stages of their life since women folk tend to fall
victims to unwanted, unexpected, unaccepted scenario at various steps of their budding
advancement.

The misbehaviour, misuse, abuse and misunderstanding with women reflected in the increasing
violence, torture, oppression and harassment towards this vulnerable species are a burning
question of our transforming days as the world has been embracing an indecent, uncultured and
ruthless culture of intolerance, indiscrimination and violence against women of different socio-
economic perspectives, especially in the war and violence-shattered countries and regions of the
world.

The sense, understanding, materialization and establishment of consideration, sympathy, co-

operation, compassion, respect and dignity for women are crucial and critical in improving the
socio-economic, socio-cultural, geo-political and national-international scenario of the struggling
feminine gender in the recent decades.

It is significant duties and responsibilities of all the concerned sections, whether men or women
to develop the knowledge, skills, understanding, maturity and wisdom of the women folk to
make them realize that they should be concerned, conscious and aware of their rights,
responsibilities, scopes, opportunities and challenges not only for their well-being, but also for
the greater welfare of the entire population.

Enthusiastically, Bangladesh has done considerably well in reducing the discrimination against
women reflected in the achievement of the first place among the South-Asian nations where the
report opines that such types of development and improvement have been possible for the
economic benefits women receive and the participation of women in different sectors of
Bangladesh.
Bangladesh has been advanced a lot in women education at the primary, secondary and high
secondary levels though this nation is yet to reduce the dropouts of women in the tertiary level of
education in the passing decades where women participation, women empowerment, women
entrepreneurship in Bangladesh are on the rise considering the socio-economic and geo-political
limitations, complications and boundaries of our existing and changing spectrum.

The existing familial and inheritance laws should be amended and reformed considering the
social, economic, religious and regional perspective of Bangladesh as the existing laws, rules,
attitudes, beliefs and prejudices regarding women folk are critically influential even in the
advancement of civilization.

The prevalence of social and moral values, exercise of good and well-sensed religious, familial
and social norms, formulation of women-friendly laws and rules, establishment of equal and
equitable familial, social and religious visions and attitudes towards women, the culture and
trend of the measurement of Bangladeshi women with rest of the world and finally, the exercise
and expansion of good, sound, decent cultural, behavioural, conditional and psychological
environment etc. are some of the important issues the Bangladeshi women have to manage in
connection with the women of the other nations of the world.
