TRF & You

The mission of The Rotary Foundation is “To enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of Health, the support of Education and the alleviation of Poverty.” The way the Foundation does this is by securing donations from Rotarians around the world, carefully investing those donations, and supporting Rotary projects at the local and the international level.
There are two ways to give to TRF: • The Annual Programs Fund: Typically, Rotarians are asked to help sustain this fund with contributions of $100 per year. “Double Sustainers” are those who contribute $200/year. This year, a new category of “Super Sustainer” @ $500 annually, has been added. These funds can come back to the club for use in our local and international projects. This is why it is important for each of us to include TRF in our annual giving plans each year. “Every Member, Every Year” is the RI motto. • Restricted Giving: Rotarians donate for a specific cause, such as Polio Eradication. This year the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has given Rotary International a $100 Million matching grant challenge. Each club, worldwide, is asked to contribute $1,000 toward this purpose this coming year.
Campbell Rotary will shoot once again for 100% Double Sustainers for the coming year. Bill Highley will be in contact for your pledge, which can be paid over the course of the entire coming year. We’d like to present Governor Gary Citti with the news that we are 100% double sustainers. But keep in mind, any level of contribution that you can make will be greatly appreciated and will support the good work that Rotary does here and around the world.

Last year at about this time, we reached the important goal of 100% Double Sustainers for the 2007-2008 Rotary Year. We are down to our last “baker’s dozen” of members to fulfill their pledges. If you are like me, and you can’t recall if you have completed your pledge for the year, please see Bill Highley to make sure. Also, if you’re interested, ask Bill about our “matching grant contributor.”

The District 5170 Youth Exchange Committee is looking for a few good men or women who desire to work with youth from around the world. Although there is work to be done, you will have experienced guidance from committee leaders and the rewards of appreciation from outstanding young men and women which will far outweigh the efforts. See John for more info.
