Q. Who is your most inspiring Entrepreneur? Why?
What are his/her 3 to 5 key qualities.
How these qualities help you in your career?

Ans. For me the most inspiring entrepreneur is Dr. Verghese Kurien. The key
reason being, he’s not only an entrepreneur, but also a social entrepreneur. He did
not work for profits or money. His main aim was to optimize the milk industry in
India and help the farmers and milk producers channelize their resources. He had
a greater aim apart from those big corporates.

About Dr. Verghese Kurien

Verghese Kurien (26 November 1921 – 9 September 2012), known as the

'Father of the White Revolution' in India, was a social entrepreneur whose
"billion-litre idea", Operation Flood, the world's largest agricultural dairy
development program, made dairy farming India's largest self-sustaining industry
and the largest rural employment provider, being a third of all rural income, with
benefits of raising incomes and credit, riddance of debt dependence, nutrition,
education, health, gender parity and empowerment, breakdown of caste barriers
and grassroots democracy and leadership. i
Dr. Kurien was a visionary who always believed in translating his vision
on mission mode. He had an acute sense of Management and Marketing, which
he used to make AMUL a successful start up. He always believes in hard work.
He made himself so successful that Dr. Norman Borlaug called him, ‘One of the
world’s great agricultural leaders of this century’. He not only worked for himself
but he empowered the society that was deprived of opportunities and their rights.

Entrepreneurial Qualities
As a successful entrepreneur Dr. Kurien possessed many great qualities.
To name a few and to inculcate:

• Clarity of vision & ability to share

• Willingness to take calculated risks
• Commitment to the goal
• Ability to inspire and drive continuous improvement

These are the qualities that will help me achieve my long-term goal. Though
these qualities look difficult to stick to, they have a great deep meaning. I would
love to inculcate these qualities in me not only to be successful but also be able
to contribute part of my success to the betterment of the society. The society is
the place which gives us everything, by inculcating these qualities I want to pay
the debt and empower people in the society.
