Case Study 1

If I as a manager, its my responsibility to be emphatic towards my team members. I

also need to keep the team spirit alive and generate a cordial environment for everyone to
work among the people of team. As a manager its my professional responsibility to carry
forward together everyone in the team. It is also my moral responsibility to ensure the general
welfare of people working under me. I should be empathetic towards their problems while
maintaining professional standards at the same time.

The women junior member in question here is suffering a personal and financial
impediment. Her problems are genuine and her commitment towards work is unquestionable.
Although, it is not right on these grounds to pressurize remaining employees to do more
work. I would review and reassign work to all members equally on weekly basis. The
women junior member should be allowed to work from home for two days in a week. Her
should be counselled and motivated to fulfill her professional duties equally with her personal
commitments. To help her with financial woes, I would offer her company loan. Her
performance will be observed very closely to make sure she does not misuse the concessions.

In my opinion, attending meetings should not be a mandatory thing, except when it

requires. One or two members from the each department could attend and fill in others with
the content of the meeting. As a manager, here after I shall maintain confidentiality regarding
personal problems of employees and try to help in the way I can, such that their performance
remains unaffected.

And i will tell the man members not to practice sexist comments in office
environment it can harm integrity of team and that will be bad for team future. There are
different steps i can think for my team member who wants to take care of her mother;

1. I will check whether she can work from home on the ongoing project, if she could i
will allow her for the same.
2. If there is no work from home option is available then i will check whether she can
take any paid leave.
3. If there is no paid leave available for her then i will request my team to act like one to
help our colleague financially to hire a maid to take care of her mother so that she can
support herself and her mother financially continuing her work. If there is less money
i will request to chief officer to help a valuable employee with some money.

I think this will help solve her problem.
