#ABETTERHEBBAL CHALLENGE
#ABetterHebbal is a challenge to crowdsource ideas and concepts around increasing the adoption of Micro-
mobility modes to feed mass transport that are currently available and are being provisioned in the future.

Citizens for Sustainability (CiFoS) in association with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT), Bangalore Metro
Rail Corporation (BMRC), Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), Transport Department, Bangalore
Traffic Police (BTP), Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) & Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) are
bringing this challenge to all the interested parties in the city.

CiFoS approached the Urban Development Department with a pilot of increasing adoption of sustainable transport in a
specific area. Hebbal area was identified as one of the potential areas to run the pilot. This area is seeing new
developments from both live/work and the transit provisioning perspective. The new metro line is being provisioned and
being an axis for the North-South & East-West it attracts huge bus traffic as well.

WHY SHOULD YOU APPLY?
1. If you have ideas around how public transport adoption can be
increased by enabling more people to get to it safely and
reliably.

2. If you are a startup, institution, NGO or citizen group who


works on urban mobility solutions and would like to pitch and
pilot solutions in this area.

3. If you would like to display your work in an exhibition of ideas


and allow it to be used by government authorities and NGO’s
alike.

4. If shortlisted among the top 10, you could pitch the ideas to
top government officials and other stakeholders.

DISCLAIMER
The challenge is organized by Citizens for Sustainability (CiFoS) in
collaboration with DULT, Namma Metro and BMTC, to bring out
ideas for #ABetterHebbal from the city’s visionaries who care about
the area.

The challenge in no way is a substitute for the public consultation


that the public entities will do in the future. This challenge is an
opportunity to democratise the process of finding solutions for
urban issues. This challenge is the idea stage to include micro-
mobility and non-motorised transport in the reports being prepared
by authorities which focus on vehicular traffic. It also enables public
participation and solutions that can be deployed.

JURY
Challenge entries will be shortlisted by a jury, from the below
organizations: UDD, DULT, BMRCL, BMTC, Professionals
and eminent citizens.

The jury retains the right to call on additional professional


experts as advisors.

AWARD MONEY
Upto ₹ 1 lakh prize money to be won.

10 shortlisted entries will get to pitch to the Jury on Pitch
