Installation Instructions

This document discusses how to apply the contents of this update to your Oracle E-Business
Suite application environment. The objects delivered in this update may include changes to
Oracle Forms, Reports, database objects and data.

These instructions are intended for the expert technical user who is responsible for applying
the application changes to your Oracle E-Business Suite system. This user should have a
basic understanding of Oracle E-Business Suite applications and have familiarity with its Tools
and Technologies like Oracle Forms, Reports, OA Framework, ADF, Discoverer, BI Publisher,
Workflow, Java and SQL tools.

Important! We recommend that you follow the instructions in this document when applying
this update to your database. Failure to do so could corrupt your database and cause you to
lose customizations that you have made to your database.

About This Update


Rimini Street, Inc. EBS Update, Salesforce Case No. 00152432, for Smiths Group, PLC, has
developed on Oracle E-Business Release 12.1.3.

Instructions for Applying This Update

Step 1. Organize and understand your update content


The documents listed below should be reviewed prior to installing this Update in your Target
system.

Step 2. Prepare your target database


 Ensure your Target instance is a fresh clone of the Production (For non-production).

Step 3. Pre-Installation Steps


Below directory structure should be available before applying the update.
$CUSTOM_TOP/patch/115/sql

Step 4. (Optional) Back up your target system


This step provides a safeguard, enabling you to return to this point in the update if any problems
or issues arise while you are applying this update.

Step 5. Locate the Update Contents


This update has been built and staged on your following location.
Machine/Instance Name: mkeea024 (GAMDEV)
Directory Name: /home/appdev/rsi_releases/p00152432

It is recommended that this Update be copied from the above directory to any of the UNIX patch
directories from where the Update can be applied. Ensure that the user has Read, Write and
Execute permissions for the Update directory and all its contents.

Step 6. Run the Installation Script


Run the ePack Script
RSI_EPACK.sh

The script will prompt you to confirm the Release Name. Please enter Y to proceed with the
installation or N to exit.

Step 8. Backup & Recovery


After update, a new backup folder will be created under the update folder. The backup folder is
named with a suffix “_backup” that can be used subsequently to roll back the changes, if
required.

Step 9. Test and validate update


Prior to installing this Update in your Production system, functional user acceptance testing
should be executed in your Target system.
