Considered here is the chronological gap, or fault line, between the Near East and its
northern neighbours. The imports of Near Eastern origin found in Caucasia and some characteristic signs of Transcaucasian cultures fixed in reliable archaeological contexts in ancient settlements of the Near East provide important opportunities to create a common Caucasian chronological framework.
