The name of this publication that you receive bi-monthly
is entitled “The Encourager.” I want to begin using this
allotted space to hopefully and prayerfully encourage you
from God’s Word. Today I want to encourage you about
the Bible and the believer’s (our) life.
“The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; the
testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The
precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the
commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judge-
ments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogeth-
er.” (Psalm 19:7-9 NASB)
Most Christians spend little time in the Word of the Lord,
and this is tragic. It is the necessary food for health and
joy in our spiritual lives. “The pure milk of the word” (1
Peter 2:2) is for “newborn babies” and the “solid food”
for those “not accustomed to the word of righteous-
ness.” (Hebrews 5:12-13) “Your words” are “sweeter than
honey to my mouth” (Psalm 119:103), and “every word
that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord” is the very
bread by which we live. (Deuteronomy 8:3)
Not only is God’s Word basic in salvation (2 Timothy 3:15;
1 Peter 1:23) but also in sanctification and cleansing day
by day: “So that He might sanctify her [the church],
having cleansed her by the washing of water with the
word.” (Ephesians 5:26)
The Bible also provides daily guidance for those who will
use its directions: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a
light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105) Every Christ follower
must be a seed-sowing witness for Him, and “the seed is
the word of God.” (Luke 8:11). In the Christian’s armor
the only offensive weapon is “the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:17), and this
means a victorious life and testimony for the believer in
Christ who uses it.
The wonderful testimony of David in Psalm 19:7-9 is the
Old Testament equivalent of what Paul says in 2 Timothy
3:16: “All scripture is inspired (God breathed) by God and
profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for
training in all righteousness.” I hope and pray that God’s
Word is a vital part of your daily life. If it is not, then
today is the best day to begin!

Teachers needed
We are still in need of two leaders for RA’s and one
teacher for 1st grade for Sunday morning.
We have had a generous response for our Sunday morning
and Preschool Worship volunteers who have said YES!
Thank you to those who have said yes for over 97 serving
opportunities and just 16 more spots to fill!

Bible Drill - stay tuned for details as we get an early start

WorldSong Children’s Mission Festival - October 18-19
We will leave from Montgomery at 2:30 pm on Friday and
return Saturday at 7:00 pm. Cost is $50 per person and
includes lodging and meals. Participants experience in an
interactive way another culture through food, customs,
crafts, and other fun activities led by young adults who
have a heart for children and missions.

TIMEOUT WEDNESDAYS: NO EXCUSES
Our Wednesday message series takes a look at God's call
to Moses and the excuses Moses tried to give. His
excuses were weak attempts at disobedience, and so are
ours. Wednesdays are the lifeblood of our student
ministry. Don't let anything keep you away from
midweek Worship and the preaching of the Word.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP APPLICATIONS

SUNDAY NIGHT GROWTH TRACKS
Sunday nights are for small groups. We are currently
offering four small group studies. Each study is video-
and discussion-based. Each group consists guys and girls
grades 7-12. Call Cleve or Karen for a listing of
courses. Join us Sunday evenings from 5-6 p.m.
FALL RETREAT, OCTOBER 5-6
Fall Retreat will be a "Sisters and Misters" Weekend. We
are currently making plans for our guys and girls to spend
the weekend in separate locations building relationships
with the Lord and each other. Details coming soon. Save
the date.

We are looking for church members who would be willing

provide encouragement throughout this school year. For

The Apostles Creed by Matt Chandler

This study provides an in-depth examination of the
primary doctrines of Christianity, its origins, and the pillars
of our faith. It will lead to a greater clarity of our religion,
greater symmetry as a disciple, and a more profound
sense of belonging in the kingdom of God.
