I. Rationale

Lately, natural disasters and calamities have been hitting our country unendingly, that
was once only considered beautiful and peaceful. With our country having one of the most
rampant illegal sources of livelihood – illegal logging, it is making our situation most
difficult to cope once these storms start hitting, only leaving us with a pool of flashfloods
taking so much time to recover, taking away a number of lives that could’ve been saved if we
took care of our environment well, and better through starting it with decreasing the amount
of trees being cut, and growing more instead.

And in connection to this, I would like to emphasize the importance of growing more
trees, and lessening, or completely terminating tree cutting. Although I very much understand
how this can be a huge frustration in the tree industry as it is their main source of livelihood,
these people also have to understand that they are diminishing the chances of us people, our
country, Earth mainly, to survive in cases where trees are very much of need.

Way back when I was younger, I have been taught that trees are considered as living
things, and by the word itself “living”, just like us humans, then it has to live. Because trees
are not “just” trees. Trees have an equal amount ability like humans to actually be able to
save a lot of lives, with trees lessening the odds of strong storms and typhoons resulting to
bad flashfloods, and us growing and planting more, to save Mother Earth.

So as a steward of God’s creation, to be able to save of what’s left on this Earth, I

would start the movement of saving and plating more trees with myself. Because this may
only sound small, but small progress, is still progress. And in the future, this may possibly
result to an increasing amount of trees being grown, having back the beauty of Earth being
clean and green, just how it is as it was before when tree cutting – illegal logging, wasn’t as
rampant as it is now.
II. Planting Site

This planting site is located at Lafortuna,

Lila, Bohol. And I gladly chose this site
because there was this good, blank area, to
which I just thought was a good place to
grow and plant trees.

III. Planting Process

Since trees are made as a source of livelihood, I figured, that instead of cutting
them to earn from it, why not grow trees that we can get an income from, without
having to actually cut them? So I decided to grow coconut trees.

Coming from the city, there is not much place for us to be able to plant trees. So
this experience for me was a really different one, but important, and very priceless
too, knowing that at a very young age, I have already been able to make a
contribution to our society for us to be able have a much safer, and cleaner place to
live.

My preparation was simple. A bolo, 3 seedlings, and my heart ready to help save
our Mother Earth. I did this on an afternoon, just right on time for me to find the
perfect location to plant my seedling.
