This letter is to formally apply for the position of Assistant Principal. I am fully aware of the
duties and responsibilities of the position and am eager to assist the faculty and students in Ohio
County Schools. My education, teaching, and certifications have all prepared me to further my
educational career as an administrator. I am working to complete my coursework in the Instructional
Leadership Program at West Virginia State University and intend to hold a professional administrative
certificate in West Virginia.
I bring to the position thirteen years of high school teaching experience. This includes working
with low socioeconomic and inclusive special education students in my mathematics classes.
Throughout my educational career, I have served in many leadership capacities. I have served as a
homebound instructor, coach, teacher mentor, Professional Learning Community math team leader,
and department chairperson. Furthermore, I am an active member of our county Academic
Achievement Focus Group, the Ohio County Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Wheeling
Park committee for the West Virginia Department of Education Model Technology Schools.
My administrative internship allowed me to gain valuable experience in student discipline,
leadership team meetings, budgeting, teacher observations, and general office duties and
responsibilities. I have taken an active part in meetings involving Individualized Education Plans,
Student Assistant Teams, parent conferences, teacher trainings, and the closing of school procedures.
All of these activities allowed myself to practice my leadership and communication skills that are
critical to the position.
I look forward to discussing my qualifications and role as a principal with you further. I am
confident that I possess the qualifications required to help Ohio County Schools in meeting its vision,
